3rd Gen Magnetic Gray Thread

After a couple years of lurking from time to time, finally posting.

Top picture is the 2019 Tacoma Sport when I first bought it two years ago.

The rest are from today after getting new wheels and tires. Raceline Defender wheels with a 0 offset, and Falken Wildpeak A/T tires at 265/70r17.

 

no reason to be shy. MGM is the best Tacoma color in the universe!

 

Never shy, just hadn't done anything to the truck yet and used the forum more for gleaning information. MGM is definitely the best. Even our 2015 Durango r/t was a similar color. I'll add gunmetal colors to anything, hence the wheels. I thought about debadging, but I'm also contemplating just plasti-dipping badges in anthracite and swapping the bed sticker to a subdued gray if I can find one I like.

 

I too am partial to the charcoal gray. In fact, both the Honda Pilot I am trading in and the new Tacoma are gray. Now if my truck would just get delivered, I could proudly post a picture!

The drop was fine. See the tree roots on the right of the picture. Went passenger on way up, sent it a bit hard. Broke some stuff on the passenger mirror.

Finally finished my current project --- first 2020 MGM Ltd upgraded to Nightshade (2021 new option).

 

Just got my first truck! 2021 SR5 in magnetic gray. It has the black wheels, which I love, but after a couple weeks, I've decided the chrome badging just doesn't work with the wheels.

De-badging is too drastic for me at this point, though maybe I'll decide to do it in the future. Looking into some black overlays. One thing that bugs me is how not all the letters have their negative space cut out. For example, see how the As are filled in? Some cheaper eBay alternatives are even worse, with even the Os and Cs being solid.

Anyone with experience with these overlays, is this something that will jump out at my minor OCD on such a dark truck? And more generally, will I find the nicer $40-50 solutions on eBay to be just as good as the $85 Taco Vinyl, or should I shell out for those?

 

I went via Amazon. Eventually you never notice those minor details.

 

Nice! I have a new MGM SR5 coming next month that I’ll be eliminating chrome on. Does the black bezel match the grille? Is the grille black or MGM?

 

Dealer just informed me that my 2021 MGM DCLB just arrived from San Antonio. Heaps of stoke & picking it up tomorrow morning!
