You say your 2nd gen never had a problem but the frame needed replaced? Can't get much worse than that.

Nah, I was amazed they got the frame approved. One small hole near the cab mount. No rust on anything else. Even the lower control arms looked fine before they replaced them. In 11 years the only repair I've ever had done besides regular maintenance was the front left wheel bearing.

Its the same thought i got with the auto tranny in mine when very very new. Drive it a few thousand miles, and you'd swear its not the same truck. My truck was so tight over the first 5k miles. It felt like slow compared to what i'd been use to. At 11k its finally loosened up a lot from where it was. As of now its every bit as much fun to drive as my old 2001 4.7 tundra...i think even better.

I feel lucky my 2021 has had no issues. I have been a chevy guy my entire life. After some moral issue i had with chevy i decided to buy a Toyota other than being underpowered and the looking for gears i have no complaints about how the truck preforms. My issue is all the things that came with a Chevy as standard i have had to either learn to do without or spend money to add. Even so i am very happy overall with the Tacoma.

I’ve been driving it in sport mode and it does help it a hell of a lot. Right now I’m weighing my options as to whether the tuning is worth it or if I should just keep driving it the way that I am.

I think that it’s so bad because we were in the mountains yesterday and the dealer has had it for close to a week

Don't let anyone try and convince you that if you do this do that you'll be happy. It's early in the game the market is hot kick it down the road if it's not working out. There are better trucks to be had

Thats funny. When I bought my truck, the sales manager was trying to get me in a Pro and he went down significantly from the sticker price. I can’t remember what it was but it was still too high for me.

He said I could buy it from him and drive it straight to Carmax and sell it for a profit, and I’m pretty sure he was right lol.

It's really easy to beat the 3rd gen. It's only going to take a full boxed frame that doesn't rust out, a truck like engine, disc brakes on all four corners and a built on a world platform with a core support that doesn't fall apart. The most beat up 2nd gen Frontier on Craigslist is a better truck.
