I've had my Tacoma almost six months and was rear ended at a red light tonight.
Guy pulled into gas station after he hit us and looked like he was gonna stop, but he ran out the other side when we pulled in and he ran the next light and turned against traffic to get away.
Luckily someone got his plate number. The police have his name and address. Hope he resists arrest!!
Bumper is destroyed, dent in tailgate, and bed is crooked. Don't even want to see it in the daylight tomorrow.
I don't think they'll total it, but who knows.
Sorry for the rambling, just needed to vent!

Sorry to hear that. I doubt it will be totaled, these trucks are tough. Unless you have bent frame, which they can straighten sometimes.

If it is, make sure the insurance company gives you full retail for the vehicle. Then go buy a new one.

That would just make me sick, regardless of whether he stops or not. To pay that much for a vehicle and have it damaged to that extent within 6 months is not right. I am sure the insurance company will get it straightened out for you. As long as the frame isn't damaged it shouldn't be that tough to repair.

    Thanks.
I think it can be fixed, too. I feel like I need to throw up or something.
I was just telling my Dad yesterday that this truck was by far my favorite of all the rigs I've had in almost 30 years of driving.

Im sure you said "Thanks" to the person who had seen the other cars license plate. Perhaps you can take him/her out to lunch on behalf of the person who hit you. What an idiot. Sorry to hear about your truck as well. At least your fine...might have a sore neck but that to shall pass (with a long island iced tea). Maybe if the police let you, you can go to his place and take pictures of his damage. Would be curious?

I drove by there a couple of hours ago and there it was backed into carport. Grill and hood damage. It was a 91 Lincoln Town Car. Took pictures and left.
Was really cool that the other couple got the guys plate number. My wife only saw the first 3 numbers as the prick drove away.
For sure gonna buy them a beer and Dinner!!

Doesn't look as bad as I thought. Bed is about 3/4 inch further away from cab on drivers side compared to other side

Was his house/neighborhood ok? I guess you had to step a bit carefully taking pics etc.

A friend had exactly the same story as you in south Phoenix, he got the address, went round to the house but the area was so rough he didn't stop.

    RIP Lucy.
    She's gone but not forgotten.
My 84 Toyota pickup got backed into in the parking lot of a condo I owned up north. The front bumper was pushed in far enough to bend the fenders, no way he didn't know he hit it. Someone in the condo complex was sitting out front and watched it happen. She told me which car it was and which condo he lived in. I called the cops, they told me to call back when he was home.

He got home, I called the cops, he tried to deny it. The cop looked at the design of his rear bumper and the damage on my truck, said "oh yeah, you did it".

He got arrested! Leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident with over $250 in damage, and making a false statement to an officer.

He paid a heck of a lot more in the end than if he'd just left a note.
