Wow, that's a ton of boot options.

I'll need to measure things out and figure out what one I need; I'll replace the cv axle first though as they have lifetime warranty but I'm thinking I'll replace the boots on the new cv axles I receive.

Any of you guys ditch the e brake for a drive line brake? I hit my ebrake wire tabs a ton last time out on the trail. Can’t really think of another option

Line lock on the rear brake line. You need a pretty high quality valve to maintain pressure for a long time though. I used a Swagelok 1/4 turn ball valve.

A driveline brake at the transfer case is probably a better solution though, if you don’t want the line lock for other purposes.

Got my truck at the end of May and finally had time to do an oil change, spark plug change, air filter and de-badge the truck outside of the single toyota logo on the back. First...the oil filter hadn't been changed since 6/10/20....:annoyed:
Secondly I had a few coil packs kinda look a little suspect. Idk of what cuz I've never seen this before buy figured you professionals could help.

The first coil(picture) is home to plug #4 and the second and third pictures are the same coil belonging to numerous tres. It seemed like rust...I didn't wipe them off because the truck was running fine. What could this be?

Thanks. Also it's hot as HELLLLLLLLLL out here

More sound deadening installed. I used a layer of 1lb MLV on the floor and back of cab on top of the Killmat tiles. To install the MLV on the back of the cab, I attached it with Velcro. The MLV was honestly a pain to get it to lay right and if I had to do it again, I’d just add some Closed Cell Foam on top of the tiles and call it good. I figured the floor is the area that would benefit the most from the MLV though so I’m gonna leave it in.

the roof of the cab was simple, one layer of tile followed by a layer of closed cell foam. Excited to get the interior back in tomorrow and take it for a test drive.

agree with @turbodb on the number. That will give you plenty to cover the entire truck.

So I'm replacing the lower ball joints and had to put some penetrating fluid on the tie rod castle nut as well as the LBJ castle nut. Some of the fluid got on the back of the brake rotor shield?

What's the best way to clean this off, or is it fine?

If it's Just on the shield, don't worry about it. If it got on the rotor use some brake cleaner.

put truck nuts on my 2000 Ranger
I've been doing a lot of exploring with my Taco. I recently found a ton of muddy roads that are lots of fun. Today I decided to take an unpaved grassy road near a church. I knew it was a road because it had a stop sign at the end of it. I hadn't gone too far before realizing it was getting way too narrow and rough. I figured it was best to turn around, especially since I was alone. As I was backing up, my truck went down in a culvert! I didn't know it was there til it was too late. I knew my truck was really stuck, so I put it in 4wd but that wasn't enough. There were lots of vehicles at the nearby church, so I knew I'd probably have to walk there and see if anyone could help me. I got out of my truck and realized that there were big rocks and a drain pipe right in front of one rear tire. I got back in my truck and backed up a little and got back out to make sure I wasn't making it worse. I kept pulling and backing up and getting out, and I got one rear tire where I wanted it, but the other rear tire had a real deep spot in front of it. I found several tree branches and used them to fill in the deep spot. Then I got in my truck and drove out like it was nothing! Then I continued my exploring. In the midst of my panic, I managed to get a picture!IMG_3373.jpg

Took my front hubs apart chasing down some Chirps and a hub that was sticking. Greased the bearing and everything. First time it's been apart in since building the axle 5yrs ago. Now it's sitting on jackstands waiting on gaskets for the hubs.
