    Not bad, actually.

Far from the only instance of a Tesla "swimming" or driving through deep water.

Waterproof electronics are far from a new concept.

I can't understand these vibration issues as my 2020 access cab has absolutely none, yet my buddies 2019 double cab has some, but its minor around the same speeds up to 55 mph. He's had it to a really good dealer where they rebalanced the tires, and checked other things in the drivetrain, but it didn't help much. It was far worse after a 3'' lift was done. Right now its back to the stock height, yet there is still some very minor vibrations. Only major difference's is his trucks a trd double cab with no tonneau cover vs mine. If it doesn't get better in the next thousand miles i'd go back to the dealer to see what can be done.

Sounds like there’s potential for a joint business venture here.

I think drivability depends on the person. I don’t feel like my truck has a drivability issue, but people all have different expectations. I was more talking about people saying the truck is unreliable because it doesn’t drive like they want it to.

In regards to the smoking on a incline, I don’t know that I have any hills steep enough around here for that to be a concern. lol Isn’t that at 30+ degrees? I do wonder why that was overlooked as a potential issue for an off road truck.

I never said the truck doesn’t have any flaws, but it’s still the best fit for me by far. Maybe the 4th gen will make everyone happy, but I doubt it lol.

So you bought a used truck that is the current model year, has only 5k put on it, and you're surprised it's got some issues?

    Ummm OK

Part of me was wondering if it was a weight thing. The majority of the Tacoma's on the road are double cab and mine is an access cab. And I haven't heard of many people with the double cab having the issue. But your post shot that hypothesis all to hell :)

All i can say my access cab sr5 is flawless, best vehicle for any initial issues ever owned. Maybe i finally got lucky ordering a good one....its a texas built truck if that makes any difference. Im not one of these super fussy guys, but will complain if something definitely doesn't seem right. Like i have said a buddies dd cab trd has some vibration, and lacks the same power as mine....told him to have it checked again....i'd be wondering why? He's already been to one really good dealer, basically told its how these trucks are after they went over it.

It’s more drivability rather than reliability.

I wouldn’t jump on the new Frontier too quickly. Nissan isn’t the company it used to be. Reliability hasn’t been great across their entire product line.

Self-reflection is tough, so I get the defensive reaction.

But instead of getting mad at the messenger, maybe you should learn from a foolish mistake. Never buy a used vehicle that's less than a year old...it was traded in for a reason. The deal you got won't be "good" in the end.

    Maybe
There's nothing wrong with the transmission in the latest gen3 tacoma's, break them in while resisting to screw with the ECT, and S modes and they shift fine....very smooth, imo their smoother that the 4 speed auto in my old 2001 tundra.

Sounds great! Thanks again for your well thought out and helpful response. The next time I have a question or concern about my tacoma I'll know exactly who to reach out to on the forum. I mean why bother posting an entire thread when I know who the resident Tacoma genius is.

Thanks again and I hope that you have a wonderful day and keep up the great work!
