Question about lockers

Im looking into front and rear lockers. I know there are spools, air, electric, and Ive heard of "cable" and hydrolic.

But my question is how does it affect a daily driver? If I put lockers on my truck do they have the potential of accidently engaging if I floor it? Or something happens in traffic? Im really concerned cause someone told me that they could lock up in traffic.

Any help would be appreciated, what locker is best for my application, daily driver who will be seeing mud frequently also sand.

Ive also seen the prices around 1,000.00 for front and about the same for rear. Any info on a reputable shop in brandon florida to do the install would be great!

 

I think the most popular way to go is with ARB air lockers... you engage them when you want to.

 

ARB air lockers are manually selectable. Used correctly they won' affect your daily driving at all.

 

alright fellas I appreciate the responses just got worried got a buddy who drives a fj40 with arb front and rear and he claims that they can lock up if you work the stick wrong lol I dont know how else to word that sorry guys!

If your buddy is using a stick to engage the lockers then he doesn't have ARB lockers. The way that ARBs harness works is, you have to first engage the air compress switch before it sends any power to the front or rear locker switches. Of course you can wire the switches any way you want but that's how it comes from the factory. If you push one of the locker switches without having the compressor on then nothing will happen since there isn't power running to the switches.

I've engaged my rear electronic locker on the freeway doing 70 on accident. Luckily the gears were synchronized and it engage smoothly. I've rewired it since then to only be powered when my compressor is on.
