Wait, he’s not even 40 yet. Just a kid! I actually met him and chatted with him for a while at a (non-race) event a few years ago. Very friendly and casual guy. A great ambassador for our biggest local brand.

Most years I pay attention to the world cup series and watch highlights. I've been watching full replays of all the world cup races this year. It's great background noise for keeping our newborn daughter asleep!

I'm not sure how much you watch DH racing, and maybe you're making a joke? The "guy who won" isn't just some over the hill dude...

Very cool race to watch and super impressive that Minaar is still that good after 20 years of racing. He's been highly competitive all season though; I think he's in the top 5 for the standings.

Just want to say, coloradocyclist is by far the cheapest for DT-Swiss rim builds, maybe others, but I didn't look much into china rims and Enve is too expensive for me.
I didn't order anything, but still messing around, when building a set of wheels you get a discount on cassettes, rotors, etc.. plus another 10% off of that.
Example, you could get an X01 cassette for high 200s if ordering with a set of custom wheels.

I think it's obvious he's not a random who wanted to give it a shot. It's just very rare for people in any of these extreme sports to still be competitive and win at the highest level at this point in their life. It doesn't matter if you come in last place at worlds, if you qualified for a chance you're generally the fastest guy everywhere you go.

It's like being the worst player in the NBA, he's still the best when he goes and plays at the local hoops.

He’s two years younger than Valentino Rossi who has been at best, a mid-field qualifier this year and typically finishes an also-ran. Of course MotoGP is very different for fitness, reflexes, risk, etc. But I’d say Minaar is doing great not just for his age but also for how long he’s been racing at a top level.

Obviously he's not just a completely random dude, but this isn't even just some qualifier or random pro racer. Greg Minaar is the consensus GOAT of DH racing, which isn't obvious. This is like Tom Brady winning the super bowl this past year. There's no denying this win is impressive, his whole season thus far has been impressive, but I was tying to make the point that it's less surprising if you regularly watch the sport.

Like, Brady, the question with Minaar is when is he gonna start declining.

Did you speak to them over the phone? Their website has changed a lot in regards to custom options for wheels and bikes.

Shit yeah a Pivot bro. Trail 429 enduro is the way to go. That rear end does work on the techy stuff.

Interesting bottom bracket/chainstay junction. Almost looks like there’s a motor hidden in there :)

No motor... could’ve used one though! I did see a few Ebikes on the trail yesterday....

I don’t know why it’s shaped like that... it is carbon though.

Man - Some folks do have tough riding areas! Giant spiky caterpillars sleeping across the trail. Wow. Do they move?

How do you like that trail? I haven’t made it over there yet.

MTB Atlanta has been making some good stuff as of late.

    Edit:
I’m on the SW side of Atlanta…Newnan.
Hit me up if you’re ever over this way.

I remember when I would go West of Phx in the open desert (now verrado) there would be tons of these crawling across the street. Good to see them again.

Sope Creek is pretty nice, they just redid a section of the lower trail with rocks.

I'll definitely hit you up. I'm looking for people to ride with lol

I’ve seen some of the clips on their Instagram. Looks entertaining.

My work/fam schedule can be chaotic so I’m primarily a solo rider. Always open to link up with folks though whenever possible.
