It was supposed to be an epic 2wk road trip with camping along the way and family time in the middle, shoving our oldest off to college.

Camped one night at the Tish Tang Campground near Hoopa, CA. Next night was sadly some hours in a rest stop north of LA as I goofed up my timing around San Francisco. Spent the next night with @daveeasa 's gracious fam in Encinitas (dude!), then a week with the fam in Tempe.

On the way home, I got to see tons of saguaro cacti, an epically low Lake Mead / Hoover Dam, lots of amazing joshua trees, and Death Valley. Death Valley was honestly more comfortable than monsoon season in Tempe. Did a worthless camp night in an RV park in a very smoky Tonopah, and then home.

    Just shy of 4,000mi total.

Tish Tang Campground. Excellent owners / hosts:

I'm a bit bummed that this pic did not come out as dramatic as the view. The background is 300ft lower:

Thanks! It was a nice run. I'm a shitty solo tourist though.

We'll be in Tempe a bit over the next 4yrs or so. I did get to enjoy paddling on Tempe Lake and walking along there with our younger daughter. I would have been the guy in a sad pool of sweat while the locals were in jeans and long sleeves. Hahaha!

The Taco population on the trip was just crazy.

Not the most desolate of camp spots but it was quick and easy and on the river.
