I bet that's nice! I saw a review of it when it first came out and decided it just wasn't practical enough for what it's supposed to be. A beautiful car, for sure! But if I want something 100% functional the XSE would be it!

I still wouldn't care for a jeep, but it would be a lot more appealing.

I kinda like it. AWD and turbo is what I read online. Probably haul ass with a tune and then if you could put some sort of a small lift and offroad tires it would scream down these gravel desert roads we have in AZ.

I would do the base model and add the turbo, which you can do according to their site. Only retards and people with too much money buy "fully loaded" cars these days anyways.

    * If you were buying today, would you still choose the Tacoma? Why?
-Hell no. I now have two kids and a wife and I tow things more often than I ever thought. Thus, the tiny peenie v6 doesn't cut it, niether does the double cab that is only appropriately sized for malnourished people.
    * If not, why? What would you buy instead? Why?
-You already asked this in the first question.
    * What problems have you had that disappointed you in the Tacoma?
    -See above.
    * Were these issues significant enough to cause you to doubt the reliability of the truck?
    -no, no mechanical issues whatsoever.
    * What other trucks did you look at before buying the Tacoma?
    -none
    * What did you like & dislike about them?
    -n/a

To add, for me, the fact that there are so many aftermarket upgraded parts and mods is a detriment. I like to work on my truck and have sunk wayyy too much money into it. My next truck will be a Tundra and I'm not touching mods with it, except internal LEDs and LED headlights.

Would probably not buy another Tacoma but rather buy a used Tundra or 4Runner
I’m partial to Toyota for their reliability and ruggedness especially when modified. I just need more room especially as I get older.

If I was shopping now and didn't want a manual transmission I'd put the new('22) Frontier on the list.

bahahahahha, I hear you. My wife drives a 2017 Outback H6. The bigger engine was her idea (I knew I married her for a good reason), anyway, I tried to do all sorts of fun stuff to it. She let me put bright LEDs bulbs in place of the stock backup bulbs, that was it. Not even interior LEDs, which she regretted last week when she left a map light on and I got hot about having to jump it. As "payback" I put nice yellow LED bulbs in the driving/ cornering lights.

Probably would just get the cleanest/lowest mileage v8 runner I could find rather than a taco again

My girl has a crosstrek! She recently got 2 flats and I said “well, you know if you get some off road tires it might help prevent flats” she was all for it  I take every opportunity to modify anything lol.

    Stock and staying that way
For a small truck, yes. Although I'm ready to go back to a car, but am waiting out the supply issues.

This is my 4th Tacoma, the only reason I’d get rid of it is for a 4th gen Tacoma

Definitely would buy the taco again . Came from a 1/2 ton chevy with the 5.3 liter motor
That served me quite well for 18 yrs . I bought a brand new 2019 Tacoma sport and its
Been absolutely great , zero problems . I use it for a ton of landscaping project including
Stump pulling ( size appropriate) . The sport model is great on the winding mountain roads
That i drive on every day . The accelleration is very good and its always in the right
    Gear . I suppose i should mention it’s a manual , with 4.30 rear end .

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
New Corolla lift back. Exocage, roof rack, lifted with meats and a trailer hitch. Edit: and big ass mud flaps

I would get a different tacoma tho. Same color and still a TRD O/R, but I would want to get an access cab long bed, or if it were possible single cab long bed.

Maybe I'd be looking at the '22 Tundra with the Hybrid V6...

There is a Santa Cruz at the dealership, I was going to go look at it. The dealer probably has a mark up on it. I think I'd get a Ridgeline if I was looking at the Hyundai.

As someone who will be in the car market in 9 months, I have spreadsheets comparing cars that I want. More and more, things point back to a Tacoma. Currently I am selling my 2019 RAV4 Hybrid to Carvana. It's a great car, and amazing on gas but I want a little more off-road capability and more towing. Also, I'm overseas for the next 9 months so why make payments when the market is great to sell in.

As far as what I am looking at, I have considered paying cash for a GX470. But clean examples without Nav are a rarity. I thought about a 4th gen T4R limited with the V8, but those cost more than the GX470! Okay, what about a used 3rg Gen Taco. Low mileage examples with a sunroof (requirement for me) are selling for $38-$39K. If I'm going to do that, for $3K more I can get a 2022 ordered (allocated) to my specs and have what I want. Long story short, I know I want another Toyota product. The Tundra is too big and old ones hold their value too well. So, yes, I'm leaning heavily into the Tacoma camp.
