I beg to differ. The FZ-09 is far from gutless below 7k. Doesn't the FJ-09 weigh 30lbs+ more than the FZ, and isn't the throttle response is supposed to be more gradual? Both of those aspects can have an impact on low end power/ torque.

Go ride a 1000cc twin or triple and get back to me. The CP3 is a dog below 7k even compared to my tractor era 955

I'm not interested in the FJ but appreciate the feedback. Surprised you didn't like the engine, most of the reviews are positive there. Like @Fulton246 said maybe it's the tuning and extra weight?

I think it’s because my 955 gave me unrealistic expectations. That motor literally makes like 60+ ft lbs of torque at the rear wheel from 3k-7k. Then after the FJ I went to a 1050 speedy which was even more bonkers. Even the FZ10 I had felt weak in the lower RPMs compared to the speed triple. The big bore triumphs are just another breed. The CP3 felt more like I’d expect an I4 to feel, except buzzier. I’m sure if I rode a 600 and a CP3 back to back my opinion might be different.

but no matter how you cut it, the FZ09 was built to a price and I think it shows. The speed triples just seem better. My 2013 1050 was such a good bike. If I could only have one, I’d pick that over an FZ. Haven’t tried a street triple, but I’d like to.

Put about a 100 miles on today getting lost in the mountains near my house. Getting used to the new handling in the twisties was fun.

I feel like HD put these marks on the tire on purpose to challenge getting rid of the chicken strip

I managed to get them about halfway from here before I chickened out.

Heard they closed the 2 through the 19th? I'll bet it was quiet up there.

It shows closed from the 39 to Big Pines, but was open from Glendale to the 39. You can still hop over to Palmdale in the west too. Wide open roads today. Handful of cars and bikes and a few construction projects but I was rarely following anyone.

Hard case 9.5” risers and probably reuse the stock bars. I do want to narrow them about an inch on each side though. I do feel like they’re too wide. On the StreetBob, it was failrly easy to swap out the bars because there was enough slack in the hard lines (brake/clutch) so all I had to do was extend the wiring. On this one, everything is too short so that pretty much doubles to cost of getting taller bars. I’ll probably wait a bit because of that. I already have a new fairing, seat, intake and exhaust on the way so I’ll want to recover from that purchase first.

TBR Two into one. I actually sold my short shots to @uphlifted. Now if I could only find someone to buy the saddleman seat. Haha.
