They have the estimated delivery window, and then they get an “on the truck” delivery time that tends to turn purple. That’s when it’s days away.

Did you try to talk to the inventory specialist/inventory manager?

Good news: Dealer called today and its in!
Bad news: their trade-in offer was so low ('17 SR5 DCLB) that there was no point in negotiating.

(And yes, I know they'll always have you by the short & curlies on trade-ins but this caught me at a bad time in that I'm in the middle of a move for work and didn't really have the time to deal with private sale. Guess I'll have to make the time now!)

So excited to see a picture of your truck. Been following your story in this thread since I got here.

congrats to the other folks whose trucks have arrived as well. Would love to see a picture of that Lunar Rock pro when it’s home.

@danadavenport Nope, just have some knowledge on how this works. They do have a system that shows all their allocated vehicles. You need to contact the Inventory Director/Manager or whatever he wants to call himself to confirm when it’s coming in. I would personally go up there but that’s just me. If they aren’t going to send me a picture with updates then I know something is wrong. Chances are if they aren’t giving you any info than it’s not coming. That or they already sold it to someone else and have you on the back burner hoping to get another one in.

Yea if they accepted the allocation that truck has already been slated to be built for quite some time. It is extremely difficult to change much after it’s allocated. It’s nearly impossible.

Im assuming y’all didn’t change the Zip code to see. I put in different zip codes and they seem to be offering it.

3 different zip codes are offering it.

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding - is Toyota no longer including allocations for the advanced tech package or they simply won’t change a specific order once the allocation has been accepted? I’m pretty set on trading in my 2020 auto for a 2022 manual with the advanced tech but will rethink that if it’s no longer available as an allocation request.

Edit - quoted the wrong person but you seem like the guy I should be asking haha

Just for reference, I can't speak to actual policy, I'm just parroting why my salesguy said.
    From his email:
"I just found the option package for the Multi Terrain Monitor on the Off Road and none of those trucks are being built at this time with it, sorry."

It is rational to believe that there are specific chip shortages which would limit production of this package.
It is rational that salesguy was simply lying.
I wouldn't give more credence to one of these than the other.

haha I was thinking it was either one of those two scenarios…just wasn’t sure if your salesguy had said something specific about why. I have the advanced tech on my current truck and absolutely love it. Especially on the narrow Seattle streets and frequent parallel parking. When I originally ordered it in 2020, the sales guy I worked with straight up lied to me saying it wasn’t offered on the manual. Now I’m going to be unnecessary paying up to get what I want because I didn’t do my own research.

No worries, 2022 still hasn’t been released quite yet and that info is impossible to get a hold of. Right now dealers are still trying to allocate the vehicles twice a month as the listing is announced in each region. If you are wanting to trade in and don’t mind a 2021 there is still hope. Log onto Toyota’s website and input your zip code. If it allows it for your area than you are more than welcome to go up to a reputable dealer with the build sheet and see A) if they have any allocated that meets what you want, B) place a deposit and hope they can get one allocated but be prepared to wait. This goes back to reputable dealer. If they are having inventory coming in all the time and I mean actual physical inventory then they may have a better chance at getting you one allocated. If they don’t have that many coming in and haven’t had really many options that don’t seem to fit your needs than stay away. Always watch what they have for physical inventory and how often they are getting them in.

As far as the Tech Packages I don’t see them getting rid of it. Packages and accessories will drop off the Toyota build site time to time depending on region. My assumption are that they do this if there is an influx of vehicles that they have offered these packages in and none in the pipeline are going to have that option. Once it’s steady flow again they will add it back to the website as this has been happening for a while now.

Just like I pointed out in the other comment that you can change the zip code and be amazed out how different regions will have different accessories, color option, and packages when your area doesn’t have that. They will also show what colors are out of inventory and they will drop from time to time, this happened to me on my truck. If your not in a rush just log into the website every so often and see what they have and when you have your build the way you want it, take it up to the dealership and see what they can do to get one allocated.

Oh man, your in seattle? And have a trd sport 6mt?! What color did you get? Everyone down here in Tacoma said they can’t get me a trd sport 6mt in army green, I guess it looks like you have a 2020, so obviously not an army green.

Awesome! Thanks for all the info. I’ll definitely check out the website. I’m not hopeful I’ll find my specific trim but it’s worth looking!

haha I have a 2020 Auto and want to trade it for the exact same thing in manual. I think I started looking too late to get a 21 so my best bet is waiting a million years for a 2022.

Also most dealerships I spoke to had a markup on army green and cement (even though they advertised as not selling over msrp. I’m betting that’ll extend to the lunar rock for 2022).

I believe there’s a TRD sport manual incoming in Toyota of Edmonds but I think it’s super white.

When I placed deposit on at my second dealership down here in Tacoma the salesman told me that they weren’t making the trd sport in a manual trans anymore, sounded like a bunch of BS to me but it is what it is. At least the build date for my truck is tomorrow. I’ll be curious to see if the temp vin stops working tomorrow or not. As of today it was still working.

@Ryan914 based off of when my temp VIN no longer worked & several others with build weeks around mine I'd expect yours to be a week, maybe two behind the one listed in your VIN.

Ditto. @Ryan914 My build week was suppose to be last week (according to temp VIN) but the dealer has been saying for the past couple of weeks that it would be built between 09/08-09/15. Crossing my fingers and trying to be patient!

Check out Carvana. I'm selling my 2019 RAV4 Hybrid to them right now and they were only a few hundred short of KBB private party value. Plus, being overseas and having my family sell my car, Carvana makes it very easy.

Autotrader's offer was just over 2k more but also requires me to drive 3hrs away ("perk" of being up the coast in Maine). Absolutely worth it but something else to juggle. I'll see what Carvana offers but if memory serves me correctly I'd either have to make the same drive or even go to Boston to for a pick up location with them.
