Steve: I lost my Dad the same way. My brother lives in North Carolina and could only make it up here every so often. When he did he relieved my sister and myself from the daily check in at the nursing home. The last few years my dad was alive he really did not know me but I knew he thought I was important in his life. If you have not told your sister how much you appreciate the caregiving she gave to your father you should, I believe you have already done this, but remind her again. It sucks being far from home and dealing with a sickness.

If you ever decide to sell your guitar give me a PM. I would encourage you to check with a local senior services for taking guitar lessons. I found a class through my county community college's senior class offerings. I started taking lessons last October after a 50 year layoff. I like you still had my 60 YO Epiphone in a closet. It was not playable but I eventually had a Luthier fix all the problems so now I have two decent guitars to play.

Greg: I was lucky and my sister lives here locally and was my Dad's primary care giver. I was her back up. I really do not know how she did all the work but I was appreciative and admire her so much. Between us we managed to visit him every day in assisted living. When you have someone in assisted living you need to visit them every day to ensure they are getting the care needed and to be a daily visitor in their life even if they do not remember you. By the time I was able to visit the facility it was usually around feeding time and I would help my dad eat. This freed up a nurse to help another patient and provided me with a quality visit. As you know it is not his fault that he did not remember me.

In the end all we are left with is memories and Alzheimer's takes them away from you.

Finally resolved my semi-annual "Entune didn't update" problem that has been in my face for the past week...just deleted all personal information, did the Entune update and then reset my presets (which I wrote down after the last time I had to do this). If this is the worst thing that I have to face, then I guess I am doing pretty darn good...:dancingbacon:

Good morning, Mike!! Just waiting for Ida to swing by and dump some rain.

We managed to get in a hot air balloon flight last evening - beautiful blue skies. Today I head into the stable to keep working on the area we want to use to store the beekeeping materials.

    What's up with you?

All loaded up for the long weekend of racing.
Still last min things to do.
As long as we come back safe and sound is all that matters.
Bringing the 2000GT for the concourse on Sunday.
We are going to be driving through IDA on the way.
But the rest of the weekend so far looks dry.

Thank You for sharing the Big Boy pics.

    Mike:
Best of luck this weekend for you and the team.

Slow day for me, music lesson this morning then off to food shop. IDA's rains supposed to hit us this afternoon but we shall see. We had massive thunder and lightening storms around 4 am but no rain.

    Happy September everyone.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals and Gals! Yesterday was so normal, I took a nap when I got home from errands!

Good luck at Lime Rock Mike!

Big Boy makes me want to go to the attic and find a train set, Mark!

Thanks, all! I hope it stays August temps for a while so we can enjoy it longer! I will try to get a pic with Rex in the water later.

Good morning everyone!! I was just thinking the other day that Rob must be on a hiatus - always miss his input when he's gone.

Started raining about 4:30 AM yesterday and stopped about 1 AM this morning here. Beautiful clear sky right now. I can hear the water flowing underground off our hill and the stream that runs through our property is pretty swollen. I'll have to wait for daylight to look for damage - the lake was pretty high late yesterday afternoon but the drainpipe was only 1/2 way under water so I think it had time to drain a lot of the excess rain as it fell. Pool is up above the filter so I'll waste some water out this morning, too.

We were on the fringes of the storm so we didn't get as much rain and wind as others. I hope everyone is OK where they had tornados reported!!

    Raining hard this am.
Going to be towing through this shit in a little bit.
Watching the rainfall reports along our route.
Some places are going to be sketchy

Shouldn't be too bad as it's clearing as you go. You'll be heading out of it. Humidity dropping like a rock last couple hours.
Over 8 inches of rain in 8 hours.
    Never seen anything like that.
