We’ve had some rain but mostly like drizzle all day… had a downpour for a couple minutes earlier this morning but nothing crazy… assuming the worst is yet to come for us easterners

It was raining pretty hard this morning when I got up for work, but by the time I was in the truck driving to work, it was barely drizzling…

Take a look here. It's kind of heading on a line from Harrisburg to Scranton. Looks like Philly might stay dry.

    @Taco critter

Just over a year ago, a tornado tore through Doylestown; A few houses had to be torn down and rebuilt as a result, including one directly across the 611 bypass from Doylestown Hospital that is just now being finished. The daycare center at Doylestown Hospital got the roof ripped off and it still hasn’t been repaired from what I can see while still driving by on 611, and oh yeah, I got into two separate confrontations with annoying third party interlopers for taking pictures of tornado damage with my phone…

This was August 2020, the day of or the day after the tornado, and the day before the Carlisle Truck Nationals…

I would have been in Ireland when this happened were it not for the damn COVID-19 pandemic!

    :annoyed:

Anyway, I believe the Doylestown Hospital incident happened first…

So, I drove into the hospital parking lot and there was an older guy in a Sprinter van (done up in Doylestown Health livery) partially blocking the way to the destroyed daycare center; This guy was not blocking the entire road, so I just drove around the Sprinter van. The guy in the van started frantically waving and shaking his head, but he obviously wasn’t a cop and didn’t seem to be a security guard so I just blew him off and continued past…

I parked the truck, got out, and took pictures of the daycare center without incident. There was at least one other member of the general public (or so I thought; He honestly looked like a biker, and looking back on it I believe he was a construction worker) taking pictures with his phone. I took a ton of pictures with me phone, got back in my truck, and prepared to leave…

As I was leaving the parking lot, the old man in the Sprinter pulled up and attempted to block my way; I easily avoided getting blocked, but decided to hear him out and see what his problem was…

I stopped the truck and rolled down my window, and he started bitching me out about nobody was allowed back there…

Referring to the biker-looking bearded dude who I now believe was a construction worker or part of the cleanup crew, I told the old guy in the Sprinter that there were other people back there taking pictures…

The guy in the Sprinter was like “no there’s not (again, I now believe the big dude with beard was a construction worker or maintenance guy); Either way, I didn’t feel like I’d done anything wrong and wasn’t in the mood to deal with this bureaucrat, so I rolled up my window and drove off without incident…

I have since dropped off a few DoorDash orders and gotten both COVID vaccines at that hospital, and have not had any issues, so I think I’m fine… :D

Don't worry, its been wet as shit this side of the hill this summer too.

I pulled the trash pumps in yesterday PM because in a downpour it overwhelms the storm drain and runs directly into the basement and our normal pumps can't keep up with all that.. and they're rated to 400gpm.

The second incident of the day took place a short time later, when I was drove into an enclave of large, very expensive homes; There was a powerline crew there doing repairs, but the neighborhood was not closed off and there were no signs saying “RESIDENTS ONLY” or anything to that effect…

There were PECO trucks everywhere, and if I’d been in something bigger it would have been difficult to navigate, but my little 5-lug RC is highly maneuverable and I made it through.

This was small enclave of probably less than 10 homes that dead-ended in a culdesac. I drove to the culdesac, taking pictures, and then turned around. As I started to leave, this tall 20-something guy in a reflective vest (obviously a PECO worker) walked directly into the path of my truck and then approached my window; He started bitching at me and gave me the “this isn’t open to the public” lecture…

I wasn’t in the mood, so I made sure every part of his body was clear of my truck and just floored it; The PECO guy said a few unkind things, but I didn’t give a shit because he wasn’t a cop, the road wasn’t blocked, and as far as I was concerned I had broken no laws…

I just got notice on my phone that a "massive tree" came down across I-376 near the Squirrel Hill Tunnels, "shutting down all lanes." LOL. How large does one tree have to be to shut down an interstate highway?
    EDIT: Here's a picture.

    HRIKTIIIRZAKLCQJXVIZKJBGIE.jpg

Apparently, outbound is now open, but inbound is still closed.

Skirted right across the bottom half of the state. Also, DCNR is closing a bunch of campgrounds due to flooding.
