The tune was developed on a truck with approx 4-500lbs of additional weight (sliders, hidden winch bumper and winch [at the time], bed shell with rack and gear, etc) and I didn't have an issue on slopes.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you're enjoying your tune and I'm sure many people would like to hear about your experiences on the mountain passes. :hattip:

absolutely. also to note that from what I'm seeing here at TW, the folks complaining are old schoolers who let the clutch out close to idle and are hoping to see performance like an older large displacement motor... since we're basically conditioned to expect the power there. to get the best out of even this tune, you'll want to raise your rpm where you release. it's a bit unnatural at first, to me kinda like driving a turbo, but that and the tune will take care of everything. this motor is no slouch once you figure how to access the power. ATs are dead in the water with this, but your MT gives you everything you need to have all the power you need when you want it.

Any chance this can be used on a 2nd gen?

You'll have to talk with @chanvchau / Chan Chan regarding any plans to develop a 2GT version.

It's possible to work on something for the 2nd gens, but it all depends on the supported ECU's that we currently have. We have a quite a few 2nd gen stock files we can build from, but they're a bit sporadic and I believe all above 2012. I'd be happy to help work on something, but we need a supported ECU to start with, or wait until there's full support for all ECUs. I've personally plugged into a few 2nd gens so far, but no support for any that I've seen. I don't want to necessarily test something I dont have access to either, it's just too time consuming and a lot of quality in communication is lost when trying to work make something new remotely.

And then on top of that, not all testers give quality feedback. Or they mean well, but they don't necessarily know what feedback and data we're really after. Especially if it's something we think needs specific attention but they don't.

exactly! Nothing against them, we just need specific information articulated a certain way and everyone is different :notsure:

I am interested in getting the Coyoza tune and I am wondering if this tune addresses the dreaded rev/throttle hang from 1st to 2nd shifting? Can anyone using this tune confirm?
I am currently using the KDMax tune and still notice the throttle hang.

there is some in all the tunes as far as i know. i never have a struggle with it on Coyoza, it's not big or strong here... but i've never complained about it in the first place. on my truck it is far less than previous tunes i've tried. i never really notice it but some seem really fixated on the hang. wait for more feedback...

For what it's worth, I personally don't care about rev hang because it's a truck and the rev hang only seemed particularly prominent high up in the rpm range.

I have the unpopular opinion that rev hang is whatever in a truck and that people make too big of a deal over it. So I didn't chase after it much when developing the tune. It's not a race truck and the tune wasn't intended to turn it into one.

This is my first vehicle with throttle by wire, so it is not natural to me that when I cut the throttle that the engine slowly drops the RPM. I understand the benefits of allowing the engine to slowly reduce the RPM to eliminate the potential for a fuel wash situation in the cylinders. I just need to re-learn how to shift to minimize the jerk that comes with shifting into the next gear as the RPM is slowly decreasing. This is particularly an issue from 1st to 2nd. You are correct though in that the affect is more prominent at higher RPMs.

When the version 1.4 of vftuner is released (any day now?) will you be updating your coyoza tune for 3rd gen MT? I may be interested in the file itself and doing the flash myself depending on price.

I bought the whole vftuner and tune pack over a year ago, but it comes with little documentation, no training, and is not for the casual user, plus I was hoping there would be a community of people researching & testing & releasing tune files (and knowledge) for all customers. Instead (and I'm not b!tching about it) it seems everyone has decided to do it all by themselves and sell the results. I'm all for capitalism, but just wish the vftuner developer had more people working for him so they could create & update tune files more rapidly and release them to their customers.

I am in Victoria, B.C on Vancouver Island. I met up with a tuner who came over to the Island from the mainland yesterday. He was unable to connect to the Coyoza server online (as were some associates in the US that he contacted) but he was able to hook me up with OV tune (for less$) which he said eliminates the Atkinson Cycle in the truck's software (Atkinson Cycle creates better fuel efficiency but with a resultant loss of power at low rpm). This Tune requires premium fuel. In B.C. Chevron sells 94 octane.:D

The truck now has greatly improved throttle response- more like one would expect a stock truck to preform at low rpm. It is a little jerky in 1st gear from a stop and today from a stop on a wet pavement hill, I could not feather the clutch enough to get it to prevent spinning the tires.

I am heading over to the B.C. Mainland in about 6 weeks and plan on contacting my Tuner guy and spend a bit more $ with him to get the Coyoza Tune. I'm happy for now, though.

Who is your tuner? That whole process seems a little unclear to me. There is no “Coyoza server” to connect to. Just vF Tuner which requires internet connection.

I guess I mislabeled the problem, but he said he could not connect to his server.

-When I first met up with the Tuner guy, he said he needs to check to see if my VIN is compatible, says it is.
-Does some stuff,(connected to server and download OV?) then says: Oh, you wanted Coyoza.
-Does some stuff, then says he cannot connect to the server, tries several times, calls his pal in the US who is also unable to connect.
-Tries to connect again but can't.
-Then says that he did load OV Tune initially, so he will charge me $350CAD and I say i will contact him when I am in his area in 6 weeks and pay an additional $150CAD to complete the Coyoza Tune. Meanwhile I have 6 weeks or whatever to decide if I want to go ahead with the Coyoza Tune. I probably will.
