I have the Yakima skyrise sz M.

So since you said you still have rake with an aal, I think I may be able to pull off the 888 then with the icon progressive aal plus the weight of the rtt and gear and hopefully sit about level. I’m thinking I get the aal and rear shocks done first and see where that leaves me and plan the front accordingly.

Coming from a 4x4 v6 gen1 Access Cab, the 2020 4x4 i4 access cab I currently have leaves a lot to be desired power wise. The truck just feels much bigger than my gen1. My son bought a 2020 4x4 v6 access cab (same truck as mine only v6) and it has much more ass than the i4.

I didn't get this to haul, tow, race, or offroad hardcore. I went for the 4cyl for 2 reasons: Proven Reliability & ease of DIY repair/maintenance. I looked under the hood of my sons truck and thought no thanks. Plenty of room in the i4 and I dont need to drop the skid plate for oil changes.

20k so far and after the truck learned my driving habits --- or after I learned the truck I have to say I'm pretty happy and my mind is at peace.

Never ever used ECT on my v6, but I find myself pressing that button from time to time due to the lack of ass the 4cyl has-- especially low end. Ideally this thing would have a bit better throttle response. I press the pedal to the floor and the truck seems like its thinking what to do then when it finally figures it out it still doesnt just go.... my sons v6 just gets it. Again ECT fixes this, but I'd rather not have to think about pressing that button.

I have a 2020 2.7 4wd auto and got a pedal commander for it and is a night and day. I haven't used the ect button since i got commander. I would pay double for it if i had to, now that i know how much of a difference it makes. Takes away that dead pedal my foots on the floor and nothing is happening

Ok. What is this pedal commander? Is it hard to install?

What size tires do you have and did you notice a big drop in power? I was just about to pull the trigger on some 2265/75/16 hankook dynaPro ATMs

Piggy back plugs in to the gas pedal install is less than 5 minutes plug and play when i say world of difference it was like a new truck. It has multiple settings and basically changes the amount of throttle you have to input to get the truck moving.

I guess I never updated this thread. Ended up with Bilstein 5100s all 4 corners, rears extended travel with the HeadStrong progressive aal in the rear.

Truck came with 245/75/16 and steelies (SR). I got scs f5s 18 lbs each. 265/75/16 falken wildpeak atw3 116t SL at 44lbs each. Rotational weight is no good when trying to maintain mpg. This configuration was thought out to basically maintain the same weight per corner as the stock tires and wheels. I lost about 2 mpg when making the jump along with removing the front spoiler. Currently I'm around 22mpg in the summer. Winter it drops to around 20 mpg. Still better than the 17 I was getting on my gen1. I really didnt notice any power loss making the jump. It was a turd with 245s and remained a turd with 265s

Does it come at a tradeoff on MPG?

Sometimes I wonder if ots due to the fuel filter debacle that I have not received a recall notice for yet

Thanks for the info on tires, no mpg difference just gives your poor foot a break it takes out the dead pedal feel. Example before i put in the pedal commander if i was on the freeway and wanted to accelerate or just hold speed i felt like i was always mashing the gas and it wasn't for lack of power. After the input from my foot is about half of what it was to maintain the same driving habits and speed. If you have a stick it might not be a huge difference but for an auto its a life saver. A few other companies sell them once in a while you will see them pop up in the forsale section here. The same unit works for both the 4 and 6, most guys with the 6cyl sell them after they get an ovtune.

" i felt like i was always mashing the gas and it wasn't for lack of power."

Exactly. The power feels like its there. Just feels like the response time from pushing the pedal to acceleration is out of sync.

I wind up hitting ECT before I even merge on the highway because of this. So -- theres a workaround. I'm going to do some research on this. I've had enough "custom" cars to realize in my older years-- I just wanna stay mainly stock -- I feel like I get the best reliability and best ride from keeping things factory. This one has me thinking though.

I’ve had the fuel pump recall done, pretty sure a lot of the 4 cylinders have as well. No change in performance for me but didn’t expect any it was fine before. I routinely use ECT 45 mph roads.

Thanks . I was afraid of this... I really dont want to do this and I haven't received a recall notice as of yet. Hopefully the issue was rectified in the 20s. Although my buddy has an sr5 dcsb 20 and he said he just got the recall

Definitely look into a pedal commander they aren’t cheap but if you have an auto the difference is huge. What years were on the recall? I have a 2020 2.7 might have to check to see if mine has it.

At this point I'm assuming all tacomas fall under the fuel filter/pump blanket. Maybe its depending on where it was built or maybe a large serial number range. My buddy has a 20 dcsb sr5 and he told me about the recall this weekend... said he got a notice in the mail. I can only assume my notice isnt far behind. I really dont want the clowns at the dealership messing with my truck.... but I also dont want to wind up stranded with a bad fuel pump

I read about the PC and Sprint Booster. My biggest reservation is that now I'm adding an aftermarket piece of electrical equipment. I mean, I guess it's like adjusting the throttle cable in a drive by wire configuration, but I like to keep things factory. So for now I'm passing. Maybe in another 15 k when my warranty is up I'll revisit the possibility. ECT does its job all I have to do is reach down and press the button and all my lag is remedied. So at the moment I'm staying stock.

Chances are I could drive with one of these installed for 15 years with no issues. Just not even gonna mess with fooling the ECU right yet
