Nope, kinda just live with it now. Some days its loud as hell. most days you can barely hear it in the cabin.

Mine only happens when warm. The dealer kept my truck for 2 days but was unable to fix the noise cause they couldn't isolate it. I spoke with corporate and the dealership to have it logged in case something grenades in the future. They said that they would cover it under warranty.

I have the same or similar noise and its getting annoying 4k miles on my 2019 its more like a heat shield type of noise when accelerating slightly

So I have an interesting thought and I am just sharing to see if maybe it's true and helps someone. A few weeks ago my truck went into limp mode and had to get towed to the dealer. It had been raining a lot and the codes for the issue stated it was fuel pump related. The outcome was the dealer thought water got into the fuel pump controller which is mounted on the frame under the driver seat. However as a precaution and because I requested it, they replaced the HPFP (my truck use to chirp very loud during idle). Ever since then, my truck doesn't make that weird rattle anymore. It use to happen every day but it just stopped. So part of me wants to believe it was something with the HPFP. I could be completely wrong here but if your truck also chirps then maybe it's worth replacing the HPFP (covered by TSB) for the new one that's quieter and maybe it fixed the rattle too. Goodluck

I went wheeling this past weekend. Hit a ton of puddles/mud pits. The noise is definitely occurring more often.

I read on here to maybe see what it could be got home and decided to look and my skid plate was missing a bolt on the top end went drove it and it was gone. I wanna say I still here a little noise.

It’s the hamster in your engine compartment that runs in a wheel to turn your alternator.

i'm also getting this rattle only sometimes on acceleration. still trying to figure it out. definitely not exhaust related since it won't make the noise when i'm stepping on the gas while not in gear. the one thing that came to mind lately is the U-Joint. if this part is worn, it will make noise when you apply torque to it. Temperature changes could affect it too since metal does expand and contract. i haven't gotten around to getting under there to wiggle the shaft around to see if it has play in it. Let me know what you think.

I'm thinking its the gas at this point. If I run 91 I never get the noise. 87 for sure, 89 sometimes. It doesn't seem to matter what brand either. I saw a post recently where the manual itself says that knock is ok during acceleration -_-

I just started noticing the same rattle. And it’s not all the time. Sometimes I even try to cause it intentionally by coasting and accelerating but it only appears randomly.

    None
Either that or the heat shields....could be some gravel, or small stones caught up between them.

I had a rattle similar to that on a 2nd gen that ended up being the foam gasket where the air intake meets the fender. I could replicate it by grabbing the tube and shaking it. I never thought that could have been it but I replaced the foam and never heard it again. Worth a shot. It sounded just like the video in post #9

It would make the noise for a few minutes after a cold start but then quit

Mine sounds similar to that but more like post #18. Mainly because I’ve only heard it from inside the cab so it’s a little dumbed down. A couple days ago I popped my hood, revved my truck to try to hear the noise but it wouldn’t do it. I only hear it when accelerating after coasting, sometimes. It’s subtle for now at least.

I am having the same issues with my 2013. Coasting then accelerating creates the noise. It’s almost like the motor is not receiving enough fuel. I return to a coast and accelerate hard to fix it.

I wouldn’t relate it to a fuel issue for mine. Acceleration seems fine, no noticeable power loss or fuel cut. How are you planning on approaching your issue?

I had one of those come in the shop a couple of months back, 3rd gen tacoma, the vehicle making a rattling noise when accelerating, he thought it was the cat going bad. Turned out to be a loose bolt on the passenger side that holds the exhaust manifold in place. Specifically, a bracket bolted on the transmission and goes to the exhaust pipe/manifold, the bolt had a washer that would rattle when loose. Tightened her up and the noise went away.

I have yet to crawl under the truck to check it out. I didn’t think a loose bolt would sound so loud even from inside the truck. At 40 mph

I have 2016. Having same issue . I hear more while engine is cold as well. Dealer thought is cat related an interior heat shield on cat converter. The only thing is i realized after i left . I have a stick and when its in gear and under acceleration its loud . I can drop in neutral and reeve the motor no noise, whether motor is cold or not. In my case its not exhaust or heat shield related . Dealer check all that shields.

My son’s Tacoma is a 2nd gen but had the same issue. All bolts and heat shields felt tight. Somewhere online I saw somebody fix their vibe/rattle by running a hose clamp (or two connected) around the catalytic converter. I tried and it worked. That heat shield on the cat must’ve been loose enough to rattle even though it felt solid. For clarity, I’m talking about the one bolted to the cat, not the long, thin silver ones that run along the exhaust. Good luck!
