Can I ask what is your wall paint color? My best guess is Benjamin Moore Ashen Tan 996.

Thanks, doing a lot of color trials lately.

...^^^... I like the way you did your mount better (with wall mount and bottom shelf support) but my fireplace mantle was too short.

The fireplace box had some small thinner plastic parts bags (easier to melt) on it too ... made a special shop vac extension and cleaned out the area of that debris.

...^^^... Sherwin Williams ... "Agreeable Grey" is what the builder told me to buy .... "Agreeable Grey" ... we love this color. Lennar puts this color in almost everything now.

PS ...I always wait for the 40% off sale too at S/W ... had to get this at 25% + 10% off.

I will go look at the label code ..

I try to buy the best S/W paint at 40% off .... buy it then (on sale) and take it back later to have it tinted and shaken.

Our trim is satin and I like semi-gloss better in some areas ... but satin hides brush marks better. IMO

I did Sherwin Williams Agreeable Grey in a rental a couple years ago. It pairs well with trim and doors in Sherwin Williams Alabaster White. Funny enough the Sherwin Williams rep told me it was one of the most popular colors at the time.

Got all my posts cut to height , drilled for the knife plate bolts and notched for the 4x12 beams . Started installing the 4x12 timbers today . This is the concept throughout , a pair of 4x12's notched onto the 8x8 posts with a 4" "tenon" remaining between the beams resulting in a 4"/4"/4" arrangement

Is there an easy way of converting this old illuminated magnifier to LED so I can ditch the ballast and fluorescent tube? Not sure where to start. I'm guessing find the right LED ring and replace the wiring, but where is the best place online to buy the LED ring?

Question for you guys, I noticed yesterday the paint was chipping on a piece of (what appears to be) aluminum flashing around my garage door.

My question is, how do I go about repainting the chipping spots? The aluminum underneath seems super smooth, I’m assuming paint will struggle to stick. Anyone have any suggestions, tips, or tricks?

Remove the flaking paint till its adhered. Hit the bare aluminum with some sand paper to roughen it. Use a etching metal primer. Then apply paint

Trusses are finally going up on the garage. Being in a rural, smaller town..equipment rentals have been hard to come by. But half the trusses are up

OUTDOOR CEDAR SLAB BAR TABLE REDO TIME!

It's become a routine now. I love/hate red cedar. Easy in many ways to work - BUT dust is toxic and it is dead soft. Mask and vacuum. And lord help you get a perfect smooth surface, ready to finish and you hit it with dust brush plastic or wood sweeper handle. Just run through the grits to get the old finish off* stop at 150 or so, spray down with straight alcohol to help kill mold/mildew, allow to dry well and resume sanding.....to your choice. I used to go 400, 320 way more than needed and 220 no one will notice!

I used the same "Teak Oil" as last time. Keep it covered through the cold wet and good for a couple winters. Exposed, goes to shit quick. I love just putting a white tarp on and tying it down ~Nov-March

Sorry no presanding pics. Not as pink anymore. Slowly aging away color. But still in great shape. In fact some new patterns emerge.

I'm from WA and I miss that stuff. Out here in VA everything except the really fancy all-brick houses, or stuff built pre-70's, has this flimsy, cheap-looking vinyl siding. I hate it. You can't paint it, it gives when you press on it, and yes, it's brittle. Kick a rock with the mower or bump the side of the house with the trash can, great. Another crack. Cedar looks super cool though.

You could but then you are triple screwed when it looks like shit in 2-3 years. Sun and weather destroy and sand epoxy off cedar? Frack.

Pretty easy to refinish oil every couple years

Wouldn't epoxy over the entire surface, bottom as well, basically encapsulate it and keep it from weathering?

    Kinda sorta.

Might help the cedar a little but the epoxy itself goes to shit in the sun from UV then the mold grows on it. Keeping it covered would help but not stop it.

I mean why not epoxy a cedar fence? Not really viable IMHO.

And you're not a fan of the look of weathered cedar?
