Stupid question time - my 2019 Tacoma has started talking to me, but I have no idea WHAT it is trying to say. While driving (never does it standing still/idling) I will get a single tone from the dash somewhere. The tone repeats on an irregular basis. I have had 2 or 3 spaced as quickly as a half second, while other times it can go over a minute and a half. I've tried timing them, but they really ARE irregular. I've checked the 'messages' page in the dash information screens, but no messages. Oh, doesn't matter if the lights are on or off. Doesn't matter how fast I am going. Doesn't matter what distance has gone between tones. Not horribly LOUD, but annoying after a while.

Has anyone had this happen? If so, what was the cause, and how was it corrected.

Any and all suggestions/help are welcome!

This is a long shot but do you have the lane assist/alert feature enabled? (if you even have it as an option)

Do you get a seat belt light on the dash when it happens? Maybe your sensor in the belt.

    Is it Friday yet? :)

OK, I do have the lane assist/alert, but do not use it - ever. Absolutely NOTHING shows on the dash. I'll be driving and there will be a ding - - - - ding - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ding type of thing. Each time, it is a single tone, followed at irregular and (to me) unpredictable intervals. Have had my husband (in the shotgun seat) time the intervals, but it is different each time. Have watched the dash closely and not a flicker. I thought it MIGHT have something to do with my speed, but doesn't appear to. I sat in my driveway today for almost 10 minutes with the engine running, and not a single beep. Thoroughly confused.

Do you listen to music on Spotify while driving? My wife's new Grand Cherokee would make a random ding sound that took a while to figure out. Turned out to be a ding sound whenever a song came on that was under her favorites.

I have a USB stick with music - I don't use the 'radio' at all.

If it's still under warranty take it to the dealer, let a tech drive it and see what it is. You could drive yourself crazy chasing a noise like that.

If it's more of a *ding* than a *beep* then it's not the lane keep/assist for sure. If lane keep/assist is turned on the indicator will be green and flash orange when it's beeping at you.

I know it's super irregular but if you could get a recording of it that might help figure it out...

It is more of a 'beep' sound. I will take it for a run and have hubby record it.

Did you have anything in the passenger seat ? Also check your tire pressure.

Sometimes a passenger in the 'shotgun' seat. We do wear our seatbelts. Tires were checked recently, but I can go look. The Taco does NOT have a tpms setup. There are a few omissions in the trim package - no intermittent windshield wipers, no auto headlights, so the lack of a tpms doesn't surprise me.

Exactly, my truck did it till i shut it off. It would make a tone every time i passed this certain property along the road. Imo, you'll be happier with the truck when you shut this toyota safety sense bs off. When anyone needs that crap.

I found it to be annoying, so never used it after the first drive in the truck.

Ok then, who removed the TPMS setup from your truck? Your truck had it when it was sold new.

    DIY Fabricobbler.
Different approach given the info provided.

    Only while driving....
    Random intervals....
    Behind the dash....

It very well could be something loose or dangling either behind/under the dash, or even under the hood or chassis. Small bumps in the road might be just the right amount of umph to make a beep/ding sound.

See if it the sound changes volume if the windows are down/up.

See if the frequency changes on a rough or gravel road.

This is probably a long shot and I don’t know that our trucks even have this but my wife’s Mazda had an annoying “ding ding ding” and it turned out it’s a stupid red light camera warning thing the navigation can do.
