I got bored the other day and started checking out some exhaust systems. I did some reading, and found MBRP exhaust. Went to their website, saw some options, they claim their exhaust systems "will give you more horespower"... meh, okay I guess, I like the way they sound though, that's why I'm here.

Their page for Tacoma Exhausts: https://www.mbrp.com/collections/s5...t-for-2021-toyota-tacoma-trd-off-road-3-5l-v6

Does anyone know the differences between them?

    • Armor Black - $555.87
    • Armor Plus - $512.63
    • Armor Lite - $437.49
    • Armor Lite - $370.58
They all have different warranties, metal, durability, tips, and conditions.

Why is the better durability and lifetime warranty "Armor Plus" less expensive than the "Armor Black"? Wouldn't the Armor Black exhaust last longer or never stain?

You’re paying for the additional labor and time to paint the same thing as the Armor Light. So its an armor light+ Prep/paint/Cure. That aluminized steel is garbage compared to stainless steel.

Interesting, thank you! So the Armor Plus would be the way to go? They likely all sound the same, it just comes down to what is going to last the longest?

T409 SS is a step in the right direction as far as materials are concerned and should last longer than aluminized steel but who knows. I’ve had the armor plus version for like 3 years in the salty north east and it’s fine.

Any issues with the tip staining any? I've never bought an aftermarket exhaust, so I only see what's on my exhaust on my Chevrolet that's several years old and has some staining.

Does yours sound any different than what is on their website? It sounds good in their videos, just curious what they sound like in person

I don’t have the tip on mine anymore. I chopped mine at the axle for better clearance. It’s definitely louder than that video and no matter what anyone says these exhaust droans so it’s just a matter of personal taste or if you care.

Chop after axle and have the pipe facing down?

I have toyo open country tires and can't really hear them inside the cab. To be honest, I can't hear much from inside the cab. Riding dirt bikes and 4 wheelers I like exhaust sound/it doesn't bother me.

Not buying for the power, buying for the sound, but did you notice any increase or changes in power?

Mines cut right before the leafs so not quite facing down. No gains in any way noticeable. I think it’s a mind game since people can hear the truck responding to their foot in the throttle easier.
