I dont think they are out right lying, more so disorganized. Or something. I just dont understand why they weren't sourcing these other "parts" while waiting on the previous parts.

 

The "Or something" sounds more like financial issues. Are they robbing from Peter to pay Paul? (using the payment from the next customer to pay there suppliers for the parts for the previous customer)

While anything's possible I just think that their business model leads them to make a lot of false agreements.

 

I sure hope not. Mobtown has shutdown and skipped town on at least a couple people.

 

I heard about that. The market is dying and I've been considering dipping my toes in with some fabrication of my own, but it's not for the faint of heart.

 

It's easy to get over run and over extended. I work in aftermarket automotive and am very lucky. We are a cash business with no real debt other than our building. The product in our building is all paid for, the building we are partners in and at the current rate is making more money a year than our shop. Cars are a passion for us all and while we could make more money elsewhere we do this because it's low stress, laid back and we have happy customers.

 

It may not be a purposeful lie but watching this from the beginning its kinda their MO to do these things. They rely on that plausible deniability

Sounds like they told a customer they were closing and "shipped" out the replacement bumper for them. Haven't been on here in months and just took down their IG acct.

Just looked they don't have a website anymore either. I didn't know they bit the dust. Wow

 

The IG account was up yesterday and pulled today. It's too bad as they seemed to have a good following and reputation for building good parts.

 

From the outside looking in it seems like this would be a great business to be in but I will gladly stay where I am keeping parts in stock to fix German cars. It seems to have a steadier flow of business.

 

I'd feel better if marlin provided specifics and was proactive with communication. Saying, for example, just to give you an update, I know we promised your kit would ship Monday, but it turns out we are still waiting on X and it is scheduled to arrive X, so we should get this out the next business day. If not I will contact you and follow up with you.

There were only 20 kits in the first batch. The first batch has not shipped yet.

 

I just want to weld some stuff and machine some stuff. Where I currently work is boring, lots of red tape, pays good, but it's so mismanaged it makes me want to pull my hair out. You could probably guess 'who' I work for.

 

Yeah they are really lacking in the Customer Service department. There should literally be someone on the payroll to handle those simple emails that'd make them not seem so sketch.

Sadly that's kinda the MO for any of these companies not just MC its why I am very very picky nowadays about who I do business with
