Pretty crazy. Guess it is shop dependent, my lbs is always throwing out boxes and is more than happy to give them away.

    Sounds whack
This. I raid their alley on the regular when I need to ship bikes/parts. And that’s only if it’s after shop hours and I can’t grab it before it goes outside for recycling.

My bottle says "personal lubricant". You're doing it wrong.

I agree, one shop said they do have them, but only at the warehouse.

They have like 3-4 small locations around Birmingham and build the bikes elsewhere when shipping them in.

Guy told me he may be able to get me one today or next week.

Dang man. If I didn’t have a playhouse to finish building I’d snag a box from my shop and meet you at CW over the weekend.

Haha doubtful. Literally just finished my first ride since mid July.

Was a sobering reminder of how quickly fitness fades.

I get it... and I did say it would sound involved, but words on a message forum don't have the same impact as a video on the Youtubes... again; I get it.

My point being that the gunk you are dealing with is all but negated with hot waxing the chains.

    Here; I'll do bullet points...

    Pros:
    • Cleaner drivetrain over longer periods of time (less frequent lubing, less wiping, less greasy rags)
    • Chains, cassettes, chainrings, chain stays, wheels, all have less mess from flung lube.
    • more efficient drivetrain due to less friction from gunk (This means faster when pedaling under any/all conditions)
    • no greasy "tattoos" on legs, shorts, vehicle, etc...
    • no accumulated grease means less grit collected in the chain, jockey wheels, derailleur spring, chainrings, et al
    • your chain is faster through the drivetrain which means you are faster overall...
    • Cheaper cost long term because you no longer have to buy/choose lubes. One pound of Molten Speed Wax will last you years...
    • Did I mention more money in your pocket from having to buy less chains, lube, and cleaning products?
    Cons:
    • Investment in cleaning and waxing appliances (Less than $100 total)
    • Dedicating some workbench space to cleaning/waxing
    • Patience to "find" your process that works for your setup.
    • No more cool chain tattoos on your calves...
This is the rear derailleur area on my road bike... I literally have not washed this thing in 2, maybe 3 years and it's an electronic drivetrain.

Motherf***er. Just got two messages on Pinkbike asking if I had my bike listed on Bike Exchange for $1200 less than on Pinkbike. One dude shared the link with me. The listing is gone now, but it has a pic from my ad still showing up. F***in’ scammers. I hate people!

I’ve been off the bike for too long. About a month ago, I pulled my old 2011 Voodoo Zobop out of the shed and looks like a rat chewed through one of the tires and the rear brake hose as well. I shopped briefly for a new bike and the prices are way out there these days. I decided instead I’d just fix her up.

I went a little overboard and replaced everything but the frame, fork, shock, dropper post and bars. Taking it out tomorrow on its maiden voyage.

Did a little climbing up to 10822’ at Purgatory Mountain Resort. Then some downhilling. I’m definitely more of a all mountain/XC rider! But enjoyed today! And the views……..wow!

It’s exactly what I want in a hardtail. Didn’t even think about Kona. Stopped in to an LBS this afternoon and they had one on the floor. LBS guy walked me through it, took it for a quick spin and was like..yep this is it.
