trees down over wires on the main road from Upton to mendon, the (regional) middle school didn’t have power. Next street over from us had a tree across the road. The swamp at the end of my road was about to crest over the street.

I don't even care about the details. I am very Spartan in my approach to things. I don't want fancy vehicles and crown moulding etc. But the actual construction of it is the thing.

A strong and solid home that’s well built will have a presence and feel that doesn’t need to be dressed up. It’s materials will speak for themselves.

But what if there’s a nature scene carved in a beam you only see if you look just right? Maybe family history incorporated into the bones of the house, or simply put on display. any number of tiny details that take skilled craftsman and can change the entire feel of a room.

It’s not needed, but it’s something that i’ve always thought would be special and wanted to incorporate into my dream home.

Our last house was similar vintage (’55) with two layers of 1/2” Sheetrock. It was pretty effective at air sealing, confusing to hang pictures on, and tricky to repair.

When I bought my house it was pretty much choked off with overgrown trees and bushes. House was dark and damp.
First job was do a walk around with a chainsaw and basically clear cut anything near the house.
Night and day difference when everything was opened up.

Wow, I think a year is a bit much but I'm not sure what mass is. I never used them but was contracted out for them a few times years ago

Ya it’s nice, Chinese food was ready in 30 minutes last night, not the hour plus it’s been taking for the last couple months.

Ooo I'll have to let the wife know. We were their for the 4th once. We still have one more camping trip, Columbus day weekend in the cape. It'll be cold for sure but we love just being by the ocean.

 I still haven't forgotten that you told me to try that place on the way into old orchard. I just had priorities last night - went to grab a slice and a beer when I got in.

Depending on the timing Monday and Tuesday I might stop back in for an overnight if it's late. Tbd. If so then I'll try it then.

Bua Thai is actually pretty good too.

OOB season is 4th of July weekend through last week of August. You really only have those two months for chaos. Aside from that you have memorial day weekend, weekends after that and the last few weeks of June do pick up but not like July. Then after the last week of August you have everyone going back to school.

Memorial day weekend is insanity. And labor day weekend is busy, probably third busiest of the year (4th and memorial day busier).

How old are the kiddos? You got a relatively newborn and like 5? I'd wait a few years so they can enjoy the rides down at the center of the universe. Otherwise there's not THAT much to do in OOB.

Labor day weekend itself is busy but overall it's after the end of the biggest parts of the season.

Nice! I was happy that my current view was an email saying the office was closing at 1 today! I brought the camper to work so I should be at the campground by 2-2:30ish!
