My friend Doug has a 2011 Altima, and he was involved in a very minor mishap where he scraped the side of a wall in narrow parking area a couple months ago; He brought the car to Fred Beans Nissan to get inspected and it passed emissions with flying colors, but it failed safety because of the aforementioned damage…

The only reason he hasn’t gotten it fixed yet is because the body shop (same guy I use) is swamped; That headlight works and I would not have failed it, but I’m not a mechanic…

The headlight isn't even intact. It has to be sealed. Of course it failed.

And in states like Florida, Oklahoma, and South Carolina they don’t give a shit as long as the car is registered and insured; Moving to one of those states gets more and more tempting everyday!

My friend is not one of those idiots who neglects his car (though just about everything he knows about car maintenance he learned from me ;)); It’s not my friend’s fault that the body shop is swamped, but now he’s gonna end up with an August emissions sticker and either a September or October safety sticker (I have Aspergers Syndrome, as does my friend with the Altima; I am very OCD about this sort of thing and I admit it)…

I really hope that inspections in Pennsylvania are done away with in my lifetime because I’m sick of paying a mechanic to hook my truck up to an OBD reader every year just to hear that my truck is in perfect working order!

This is one of those situations where you have to conduct a “pleasure-to-drama ratio”, and I have determined that weekend bedroom adventures are not worth the baggage this girl is carrying…

Very, very tempting; Though the issue here isn’t emissions…

Doug’s Altima suffered very minor damage that he is currently waiting to get fixed because the body shop is swamped, and his car failed inspection because the headlight lens is busted (headlight still works and there’s nothing else wrong with the car)!

I was just saying in my MegaThread how my Tacoma technically violates PennDOT motor vehicle code because it has aftermarket foglights that don’t shut off when the high-beams are turned on; The following emoji is an accurate description of how I feel about PennDOT…

Insurance is paying for it and I think the parts have already been ordered…

My friend had an incident in the same Altima a few years back when it was parked in a K-Mart parking lot (he was not present); An 18-wheeler (we think) backed into or sideswiped the Altima, based the driver’s door in, and fled the scene. The car was obviously safe to drive but the window made weird noises when you put it down; Luckily, my friend’s insurance policy covers hit-and-runs and his rates did not get affected…

He got the car fixed at the same body shop that’s doing the work now (same one that also fixed my Tacoma after I got hit by a drunk driver in 2015, Butch’s Body Works in Danboro, Pennsylvania; I HIGHLY recommend him)…

Anyway, a brand new OEM Nissan door cost a fortune, so the insurance company tracked one down on a totaled Altima in a junkyard; The total cost for everything including labor was $3,500!

Not sure if you're on here but I appreciate having another tacoma to keep mine company at the end of the parking lot!

Which she does; I’ve known this girl since 2009 and went to school with her. I dated her briefly in 2009 and didn’t see her at all from 2012 to just a few weeks ago…

    Oil change day.
A few months ago I hit something on a rainy night in heavy traffic on 81 near Scranton. It was a really hard double hit, front then center. I couldn't find any damage besides cracking the air dam. Figured out what got hit today.
