I think the silver is pretty cool. When first sanded the silver is kinda amazing actually. BUT I like virgin red, looks awesome.

So it turns out that if you install one of those fancy camera doorbells, you need a compatible chime to power it. Who knew???

they have battery powered ones. I have an extra battery and when it runs down, I get a notification, and just switch it out. takes 3 Seconds.

Yeah I have a fancy one that apparently is harder to use than that. Oh well. Part from Amazon will be here tomorrow. Used to be I had to wait a week or more for delivery so I'm happy.

I didn't even know ubiquiti made them. I might switch over from my ring. I already use Ubiquiti's edgerouter and wifi router.

Yup they have a whole security line. There’s no subscription fee and you can set it up with your existing Ubiquiti gear very easily. Just make sure you have a compatible chime…like I learned today, they’re not exactly plug and play with existing hardware.

Had a hurricane come through last night and got water in my basement, half my carpet is wet and i think its time to upgrade to engineered wood flooring. Do you guys think I need to put an underlayment like this or should I put just a plastic sheet? My basement tends to be somewhat moist and we get water from bad storms but its very rare, maybe once a year at most. My sump pump is on the other side of the basement so water has to flow basically under my carpets to get there (its never really enough water for the sump pump to even kick on so it basically just wets the carpets) so im thinking this might be worth doing. Not really sure. Pic for interest:

If it’s consistently damp and floods annually I wouldn’t put any sort of wood in there

Not a fan of the look. We are looking at LVP now instead of engineered wood

That’s a good idea vinyl will be a better choice for damp environment
Do you run any sort of dehumidifier?
Also maybe try to figure out where storm water is getting in and intercept it somehow

Tile may be the best way to go down there. Use a decent tile mortar and it can be totally immersed with no issue. If this happens yearly you’ll likely see issues out of anything vinyl.

Time to start fencing this weekend[IMG]

$170 for the first 30'. Not great, but not as bad as it was a month ago. Hurricane season made me go ahead and get a jump start on it before material prices come up, albeit a little earlier than I had initially planned.

Going for this but with 10' post spacing instead of 8'.

I may need to run diagonal boards on the back side to prevent warping since Im using 10' rails but we'll see.

I want to build a privacy fence around my backyard but good lord pricing is crazy. I want something that'll last at least until we sell in 10-15 years. I was thinking of doing the alumnum pillars with slats between them but just the pillar is almost $200 + the cost of the wood slats. Cheap pre-made panels don't seem to last long so I can't go that route.
currently I have chain link along the sides and a really old, short, falling apart wood fence backing up along the property line between me and the house behind me.

    Anyone have thoughts or opinions?
