Proof that I'm not misreading this thing. I think I'd notice if it was doing 4k rpm...image.jpg

That tag looks a little odd because it looks to represent two levers on the left. I wonder if it means the one down below that one which would put the spindle speed at 92 rpm :notsure:

Never mind I think I see the two levers now. Then that left lever looks like 2 speed range and maybe that bottom one is a feed reverse.

The big lathe in our shop has a warning not to run over 150 rpm with the 4 foot diameter chuck on it. Guess they don't want it flipping over on the operator.

The diagram represents the middle two and the far right. The far left is actually for part of the threads and feeds selection. image.jpg

Do these little boring bars require a special tool holder? I can't seem to find anything they fit in.

Edit: the large boring bar in the holder is too big to fit inside the bushing. I need to bore it out to 18mm ID, and I've already drilled it out with an 11/16.

There may be a bushing laying around to adapt the small boring bar in the big holder. We’ve done that before.

At first it looked like he wanted you to turn them all into bottle openers. I was like 'yeah no way this could go wrong down the road...'.

One more question. Where on my part should the cut off tool make contact? Below center?

Slightly below. Spray some wd-40 or oil on it while cutting

Your going to want your parting tool pretty sharp too, and hopefully don't collapse the wall.
