Can’t get my brakes to bleed.

they’re firm when I pump but when I stop pumping they go soft again.
Air in the system or leaking air in from somewhere?

I found this stuck to the plug in my rear diff when I went to change the oil. What do y'all think? Time for a rebuild? Maybe a locker as well?

More pics? I've been all through the rear diff, but that's not sparking any memories.

But we the last two said, time to pull the diff and find out what havoc that's bestowed.

This is the only other one I took. I am thinking it is just the tip of one of the ring or pinion gear splines. I got the oil done this evening so I will take it out in the morning before I change the oil in the front diff and see if I notice anything. And I'll see how much anxiety it gives me here in the next 4 weeks before deer season. It might get 50 miles on it before then anyway and it has been going for God knows how long before that. I have had it for 2 years and only put maybe 4000 miles on it.

It doesn't look like a broken gear, looks like a cast part. If it was a gear or should have cleaner breaks, but it could've been chewed up in there. But the second pic does look like it could be a gear.

My suggestion with anything that size in the diff, is pull it and inspect. Whatever it is should be noticable.

Amy chance you've got a scale to reference the size?

Ive bled my brakes a few times now without issue but on one occasion
i had trouble bleeding mine because of the abs module. ended up having to crack open line up top. early year abs system was different than yours though.

Coilovers, sway bars, wheels, tires, extended studs, intake, head and taillights, seats, short shifter,
Did you just install a new master? You have to bench bleed it. Alternatively, I have had success by hooking up a new master and then bleeding it at the fittings, but it takes a little bit before it will flow out fluid. If you try to bleed at the calipers before doing so, nothing will be pushed out until all the line is primed.

I installed new calipers, couldn’t get the brake to bleed.

booster/master has been leaking air for awhile so I’m just gonna replace them too.

but they won’t be here till Wednesday.
