Yeah that’s too far from me anyways. I’ll be ok paying between 500-600 range.

I’m in the CA (northern Bay Area). Anyone have a suggestion on where to go for a decent price for a sport hood? Was quoted $2100 by a local body shop. That was OEM hood, scoop, all parts, paint and install. Much too high in my opinion. Hoping to be in the $1,200-$1500 range which should be doable.

    thanks

Anywhere sell the precut vinyl shape that goes on the hood?

That seems like the money for killing that glare!

Uneducated on this so just asking. Since you're in the body shop for painting anyway, why couldn't you just get that area painted with a matt black color instead of buying the vinyl?

I’m not - I just want the vinyl to apply myself without hanging to cut something that will look janky.

Paying $700+ for a non functional hood scoop, just for looks??? WTF is wrong with me because I think this is the dumbest way to spend money ever?

I have sometimes thought similarly and then other times I’m about to pull the trigger on buying a scoop hood lol

That's a pretty small amount in the grand scheme. I've seen ten times that wasted and nobody blinked.

I got mine free but I'd have easily dropped $700. It looks perfect.

$3500 for new wheels and tires that you don't need is a pretty good deal.

Haha very true. Most of the mods we have we don’t need but life is too short to not mod them!

I've found the ones we need are fairly cheap like diff breathers, poly bushings, ecgs bushing, etc and some are even free.

I guess I am the outlier here: I joined an automotive forum and I am keeping my truck stock. :)

Although I am planning on getting a Coyoza tune, but that is more Toyota's doing by creating a truck with low hp and torque at low rpm (for EPA reasons) that is addressable with an ecu tune up.

Paying money, to reduce visibility, for something that is fake (does not bring air into the engine) is crazy dumb.

If you don't want to off road then why buy the Off Road? Bling is the Sport TRD... Going places is the Off Road TRD!

$2100 is just too much IMO. Mine was around $1500 in total and that was too much to me but I did it anyway. I suppose if you want a great matching paint job, (I tried the hood swapping route for about 2 years without luck) you just have to pay the price.
