1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Interesting thing happened today; Stephanie and I went out to lunch with @eon_blue and his family and while slowing down to turn, the 4Runner shut off mid turn.

Lost power steering and said oh shit, it shut off.

Pulled over, hazards on, checked underneath for anything funky before starting back up.

Hoping it's something stupid like a fuel filter since it sounded like it starved for fuel. No pending or current codes or engine light so we'll see.

 

did you loose all electrical power as well?

 

After he started it again and pulled into the gas station next to us and turned it off, he started it up again and the idle slowly dropped until it stalled out once more. Started up normal after that

 

No but when I popped the hood I still checked to make sure that the main ground was still connected.

Driving back to town everything ran like normal not to mention the trip to storage afterward.

 

May be loss of power to the fuel pump. A loose relay in the fuse box?

 

I haven't pulled any or checked which I should seeing as how I bounce the son of a bitch everywhere I go

I ordered a fuel filter when we sat down to get food

Finally working on that Tonneau cover I bought from you years ago. Decided I’ll stick it on the truck. Did some minor fiberglass repair, I’ve got plenty of leftover supplies from doing the Bayliner deck.



Did you know it was green before?



Here’s the fiberglass touch up, I used some Cab-o-sil and Fiberglass strands to make a filler for the chipped areas.

 

Nice, I forgot about that. I painted green with some cheep AutoZone paint about 15 years ago.
Having a bed cover makes life so much better you don't have to stress your tools and gear getting stolen (or buried in snow).

 

Did you paint it green or black? Looks like someone painted black with a roller.

What did you replace this with? This was supposed to go on the 5-lug but I got rid of it.

 

I did so may coats of paint on it over the years, green then black. I got a newer version of the same one. That way I didn't have to fix the crack I put in it.
Your 5lug survived the fire. It's at a friend's house in South Lake Tahoe.

 

Oh man! How is your house - I saw it getting really close to South Lake Tahoe. Glad the 5-lug made it. That thing has been through so much.

How’d you crack the cover BTW? Haha. Did you buy the cover new from SnugTop?

 

Your guys' house ok? Wasn't sure how far into town it got

 

We are good. The fire is about 10 miles south of us. Everyone involved did a great job keeping it from burning down south lake. We have to go threw 2 national guard chekpoints to get home, they are keeping the tourist and looters out.

 

It did damage about 5 buildings in Myers but nothing destroyed in the Tahoe baison.

 

The world may never know how my Lexus' fuel pump got power with no fuel pump relay

 

My white ass man managed to get crazy sunburnt today at the beach even though it was cloudy the whole time we were there lol

 

We all got burned; getting back Stephanie was like "babe you didn't tell me I got burned"

Me...I just got darker as I am a "person of color" right @esxcli

 

Clouds don't block UV radiation

 

Haha ya Rebecca and Sofia aren't but they were in the tent most of the time. I'm definitely lathering up in spf 100 tomorrow
