Get the Overdrive app for your phone. It allows you to check audio books out from your library and listen to them wherever you want. It really makes the time go fast in the truck.

I wish. It's illegal here in NH. Pisses me off. Had to take it off of my Explorer in order to pass inspection this year. I've never not had tint on any of my vehicles. Drives me nuts.

I've got one for the front. I almost hit a turkey a couple days ago - locked my breaks up and had to swerve. Screamed at it for a bit. Probably would've been funny to download the video.

I might be able to do it if it's clear. Not really sure.

OP, I love this thread ... nothing like a good, long trip.

Two suggestions that might be fun to think about. First, put together a solid lunch / picnic set up. If you are going to be on the road that long, why not pack decent food and enjoy a nice lunch. My family frequently plans picnics at parks, etc. when on long trips. We have both a hard and soft Yeti cooler (much prefer the hard one). Everyone in the family has a nice Yeti drink cup -- but any brand will do. Large Coleman thermos. GSI Outdoor camping plates and silverware are also helpful. And, we also find carrying a picnic table cloth or camping table and chairs are really helpful, too.

Second, and this is a wild card idea. Consider some of the Great Courses (check out their Web site). I've done lots of really cool lectures, etc. on long trips -- especially when I am bored with the radio selection or in places where reception is sparse or non-existence.

Look forward to hearing what you decide to do !

I took a long trip from Texas to Moab back in May. Downloaded a full season of king of the hill and alot of music. Found myself using my XM radio alot and my trucks GPS as my phone had shit service out in new mexico. Btw New Mexico was the worst leg of the drive. You could drive for a long ass time and not see anything like no gas stations, cars , trees , plants , animals etc.

A decent cooler (any Yeti clone will do), a snack box with your favs, and a tablet that has a cell phone connection.
(These are good for more than in the truck use, like in a motel.)

A front bug bra. I know they look ugly, but if you’re not in the market to spend big on clear paint protection film, this is a good alternative that can be removed when you get back home from your travels. Removing bugs sucks ass.

I installed aluminum spacers and longer bolts from Lowe’s, think it came out to $7 for the driver seat. Seat was raised about an inch plus, I still have the electric seat adjustability.

I second this… ceramic tint is the best. Preferably 3M or Llumar.
