Yeah, it's a beautiful stretch of river. Next long weekend you should head up to Lake Placid and hit the no-kill section on the West Branch of the Ausable. It's bar none the best trout water on the east coast. If that sounds like a bold statement it is. I've fished all the other best streams from Georgia to Maine. I've never gotten on bigger fish consistently then on the Ausable. It's that good. I used to live an hour from the Beaverkill and Willowemoc. I'd drive the extra 5 hours to get to the Ausable because it was that much better. Keep in mind both the Kill and Moc are considered world class streams. lol

 

If you ever make it to Cali I'll put you on some fish. We can do some rivers but the alpine lakes are where the big fish like to hang out. Here's a stringer from South Lake outside of Bishop. It sits at 10000' and is stocked with the regular DFG cutbows. It also gets a good share of triploids from a hatchery in Idaho that are massive. Each one of these is an Idaho fish. Since they are triploid that means they can't reproduce. That's why there's a limit of them on that stringer. Smallest fish is 3 lbs and the largest is 7 lbs. All caught on 3 lb test and mini-jigs in the space of an hour. It was a fine day to be on the water. lol

I'm not normally a big smiles guy but this was an excetption.
