I have tried The paperclip method and does not work for 2019 because of different configuration of the obd2 pins.

Edit: Tried several times and no success. Went to auto repair shop and their asking for $140 for diagnose and zero calibration for the vcs and adjusting the pcs. Estimate $200-$400.. I went to 4 different shops all asking about the same price range. Even if I told them I just needed to clear the codes because the tire shop somehow activated and not able to clear it and doesn't have the scanner to clear it.

Anyways, long story short. I got this scanner from Amazon and it worked. Cleared bot VCS and PCV (pre-collision system malfunction).. And all is well. It's a keeper incase other codes pops up. TPMS as well..

Edit: after 200+ miles. No warning lights..
    Hope this helps!

    I have a 2015 SR5 as well.

I can't answer your question, but share your frustration. Mine has never beeped at me, only activated the brakes causing under steer, sending me into the lane of oncoming traffic. Personally, I do not think this is a smart design.

I installed an ABS-kill switch, and found when the ABS kill is activated, the VSC will not activate. Better than nothing.

For the record, my ABS has never activated in a driving situation.

Excellent information, what a great resource to have this kind of information available. What are all of the benefits of a reset? For those of us new to the process etc.

Just reset mines. Front end upgraded yesterday and the 1st right turn I make set the light off.

I have an aftermarket alarm system and the shop used an OBDII type plug for their wiring. So it kinda extended the length I needed to get to those 2 pins. Contacted the shop to see if it's OK to do a quick unplug and so I did. I'm back in business.

And people wonder why I've attached paperclips to the molle panel on my sun visor. Random... but not for a Tacoma.

The procedure described in the OP worked great for my 2013 DCLB. Driving for several miles on soft beach sand in 4H set off the slip warning light which totally disabled the VSC functions. Only the slip indicator light was on, not the ABS. The light remained illuminated for over 300 miles back on sold ground without resetting itself.

I wonder if I should have turned TRAC OFF before hitting the sand, there's really no benefit to have the VSC cut the power to the wheels while sliding on the sand. That would only kill momentum and make it more likely that I get stuck in the deeper stuff. Does anyone know if turning TRAC OFF before spinning tires will prevent the slip system from throwing an error? I think the VSC automatically kicks back in above 40mph?

I was able to reset and recalibrate the system back in my driveway in less than 5 minutes since I happen to keep a toggle switch in my glove box. Cheers and thanks for the great guide!

No luck on my 2015. After a Firestone alignment my VSC light remains on because of the C 1210 Zero Point Calibration of Yaw Rate Sensor undone. Tried twice, the ABS light blinked for the recalibration but the VSC light was solid. Firestone gave me the runaround and I'm not sure what to do at this point. Dealer wants $135 to diagnose.

EDIT: PARKING BRAKE MUST BE ON FOR A MANUAL TRANSMISSION! No more light. Apparently Firestone didn't know this either :)

Oh wow. Yes that seems much more that what I experienced, but by the gauge of those wires you may have something else attached.

If you happen to be the 2nd owner of the truck I would definitely reach out to the original owner. I doubt dealerships will install something like that, but you never know.

Sorry I'm not of much help. I don't want to tell you to unplug the assembly and something else happens. Hopefully someone with more electrical experience can chime in.

The white plug is OEM, whatever is attached to is is some kind of OBD reader, ECU changer type deal. Maybe Pedal Commander or an Ultragauge?

Great post and super helpful I have used this multiple times already via the jumper method. Pretty handy when you do alignments at home

Not sure if vsc is the issue but just noticing this on one onramp near my place. Gotta hit it pretty quick and its a sharp right turn. Feels like the passenger tire locks up for a second until i get off the gas but im not seeing any lights. Would this be a reason to reset the vsc or maybe abs kill switch mod. Its happened multiple times and sketchy enough with the semis and cars close enough to where i need to do something

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for to fix my VCS/PCV. Trying my friends OBDII reader before purchasing, but have it in my cart already.

Code showed up after an alignment (Caster and Toe adjustments).

    Thanks!

Trying to use the paperclip/jumper/cheap "try me" button and tucking under the dash I could never seem to get things right so I finally caved and got an OBDII port extension cable and used a little micro switch which I soldered some solid copper leads to to make my jumper switch with little yellow match marks on pins 4 and 12.

Figured I mess with my suspension and stuff enough that it's worth it.

Forgot to reset after installing the Archive Garage Hammer Hangers so I'll have to see how the truck plays now after the reset/relearn.

    Switch works like a charm.

Trying this on my 2011 TRD Sport 4x4 after 2inch spacers on the front and having trouble. I was able to get the ABS and Traction lights to flash slowly, but when I turn the car off and back on to re-calibrate, the ABS and Traction lights flash at the same rate. I can't get them to flash faster.

Am I doing something wrong? Also I had to use different pins. I shorted the 5th one from the right at the top, and the 4th from the right at the bottom (instead of 4th on top and 4th on bottom like the pics shows).

Unfortunately this method is doing nothing on my ‘09 6speed. Yes the parking brake is engaged. Following the instructions to a T. I’m using two jumper leads attached to paper clips to probe the correct two OBD pins, and shorting repeatedly with key on. Does nothing.

VSC light is on and ABS light code is flashing “94” after replacing my clockspring due to dead cruise control. Really frustrated.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
probably because there is a fault that remains in the ABS
