Dedicated EV specific gas 'fee' alternatives are the number 1 reason I'm hesitant to buy one. I drive 6k miles a year which equates to $25 in 'fees'. Most states I've seen I'd need to drive an EV over 60k miles a year to break even.

I don't know the solution just an observation from a consumer.

Not sure yet, I hate poke and I hate extra weight so my options are :tumbleweed:.

For now I'll stay on my sport wheels. Which will be my dedicated winter set at some point.

How do lowering kits work? Lighter springs front and rear?

Typically a block in the rear to space the axle away from the leaf springs. Or a shackle drop kit, which changes where the leaf spring mounts. In the front it can be a spacer plate, shorter coilovers, or control arms that have a certain amount of drop built into them.

Silly question... if your dash light for your blinker goes out, does it prevent that side blinker from working as well?

Tacoma's are a bit unique. Being 4wd we're spring over axle. Our rear shackles are upside down as well.

So this kit moves the axle over the leaf and changes the shackle mounting point to achieve the rear drop. Then you could start adding blocks to go lower. I have no intention of going lower.

In the front it swaps out the spring perch on the strut essentially just moving the spring to a higher resting position.

So springs and leafs are still original.

Mm, I don't think that ECU is smart enough to know the dash light is out, or dumb enough to disable your turn signal because of it.. I could be wrong though.

Did you check the flasher relay?

It appears to be working... right side works fine, left side has no lights but makes the clicking noise.

edit: checked the fuses, they're all good. Not getting 12v to the plug at front or rear on the left side

Also, what’s the point of lowering? Better handling at high speed turns?

For me, I race my truck at autocross events and plan to bump the hp up to around 500. I'd rather not have a high center of gravity for either of those things. Other people do it for the look, or to just be different. And I've also known some who have done it to accommodate disabilities.

I know this is for stock rigs... but here's my update on fitting very large tires.

I also found a couple other shady bits that I cut, stripped, and re attached with proper mechanical connections. (Butt connectors with heat shrink)
