Where Have You Off-Roaded Today? 3rd Gen

Hopped over 4 Peaks today.

 

Scouting for deer season in Sweden.

 

Spent the weekend in Windrock Park at the Appalachian Toyota Roundup event. That park is amazing and the event was awesome. It was a great opportunity for me to build some experience off road with experienced folks. Met up with the Queen City Offroad Toyota group out of Charlotte. Great group of folks and they took me in like family.




Needed a little help getting some traction through this rut. My side steps, although rugged enough to take some serious abuse, are not sliders. The steps kept digging into the bank and the RTT on the leer cap makes me a bit top heavy. I'm pretty sure if these were Predators they would have been flat. Probably didn't help that I have a Dometic, 3 100ah batteries and a wooden pull out drawer in the bed while off-roading. One 4 runner broke two beads at this location which was good experience for on-trail repair. We were able to replace one with a spare and luckily the bead popped back without the need to fire it but we did have some carb cleaner standing by. We only had to pull one vehicle up with a strap. Pictures don't do the hill justice. The following day we went through some rock gardens which I was very impressed with our vehicles ability to conquer. On the most impressive one I forgot to hit the record button Here is one small example of what is out there.




Also did some touring outside of the park including Nemo Tunnel, abandoned trains and Brushy Mountain Prison ( although I opted to head home instead of take the tour ).




The event also put on show at midnight on the infamous Trail 15 with some serious rock crawling rigs. It was pretty fun to watch.

 

Good news is that it was only flat on the bottom!

 

Took the new girl up to Four Peaks today. It was her first adventure!

And yeah, the weather is gorgeous. Finally taking a turn off the 105+ temps.

 

It was a blast. It's hard to tell from that shot but I was already 3/4 of the way up and the line you drew would be impossible to take.

Well, I shouldn't say impossible but highly unlikely with our vehicles. You would need to be there to fully comprehend the situation. We took 15 vehicles up this and there were numerous folks in the group that were way more experienced than I spotting the climb. My two issues were my steps digging into the wall as I started to gain momentum and the additional weight on top trying to roll to driver and lift my front passenger off the ground. The additional weight on that side allowed me to get a bit more traction and pull right out.

 

Only on the bottom! Easier to fix this way ha!

 

I agree! This is my dads Tacoma though. I told him that I call them durajunks. I run the stiff cooper st maxx 255’s. I had a feeling this might happen where we were. These had 10k on them.

 

Had a blast this weekend with our new jumping jack trailer. Really impressed with where we took it. Got to a fire lookout with a good view, and all the Rzr utv people up top were asking how I got the Tacoma up there haha. Anyways, got some great fishing in and just enjoyed our backyard of central Idaho!

First fire I’ve seen this close since moving on from a BLM IHC lead sawyer. I was standing in a burn scar from a fire I was on in 2015.

Beautiful. We were at Windrock Park outside of Knoxville, TN. Pretty awesome park.

 

Lucky, I was in the area the day that they closed the forest and couldn't run it.

Wanted to explore some new (to me) trails but they were closed due to last years fires. Ended up exploring around Mt Hood.

Ran the Busywild, along with every other trail in Elbe, Washington this weekend. Truck did great, besides a couple scratches/dents on the rear doors.
