We measure in thousandths of inches around here...like when a engineer talks in mills...
I give them :poking: for it.
Not my thread so guess I cant:argue:

:rofl:hope everyone enjoying the day so far. Fishing expedition left without me so I'm straight n organized garage and shops.

Edit to add, I tell those Engineers, mills? Mills, yeah, I think that's how trash bag thickness or something

    A thing or two...
Yeah. NG relies on pipe pressure, not electricity, so it flows when the power is out. The issue then becomes getting NG equipment to run/light.

Comparing a 3500 lb, ~500 hp car to a motorcycle is apples and oranges.

The amazing thing with that car was when I put the pedal to the floor the torque shift with the Tremecs tranny was absolutely stunning keeping the car pointed straight and without interrupting the flow of torque to the drive wheels. And the paddle shifters are a must because you cant let go of the steering wheel....

Coworker just received delivery of brand new Challenger with scatpack option. He said the auto transmission is amazing in it. 8 tenths of a second shifts or something but he was having second thoughts on the manual. But he's got what he gots now. 8 speed I think he said.

I only use millimeters because the machine is German, so all the measurements come out easier in mm

I understand. The plates I'm working on now the original drawing was all in metric.
I just don't understand engineering when they say take a few mills off of something or give a few mills of tolerance.
So a millionth of a inch? That's pretty tight.

    Thank you very much !

Now that I have time I can get my Lathe and Milling machine up and running make some pizza money.

Funny how over the years the extra boxes and bags of welding consumables add up but for shielding gas and oxygen and fuel gas I most likely will not need to buy anything . Maybe the odd role of wire .

I have to tell how I got this nick name it was back in the early eighties out in the Burns Harbor area we had just finished up a job at the Bethlehem Steel mill we all pretty much did what was needed I got volunteered to haul a flatbed with the normal load out of gang boxes welding machines etc.

I ended up with a space on the trailer about 12' those fun loving coworkers ran up the road to Kmart bought a cheap 5'x7' nylon tent pitched it on the trailer while I was taking a Shower.

The name Bivouac was given to me though not to many around that would still know me by that name . When your the young kid in your mid twenties the others were all older by at least 10 years .

Those men taught me so much in the years I worked with them.

Spent about 3 hours in my attic yesterday wiring all the new can lights and island pendants in. The wife now wants the pendants on a separate switch so have to go back up. But for now we have light. Next up is the backing for island and peninsula and trim. Then to figure out the backsplash.
