Beautiful kitchen. My house needs modern lighting badly, but I have almost no attic and as such I've never been up in it. I don't think there's any room to get around with the exception of right at the ridge where it's about 3 feet tall.

thank you! I wanted it to be bright and be able to see so I made sure it was. I have quite a bit of room in the attic. Enough to crawl on my hands and knees. Body if feeing it today for sure.

Yes mostly original kitchen location. Moved the stove and microwave from the near wall to far wall, sink moves from right below the window to the corner and added the island. Move the near wall 18” towards the living room and shortened it by 5 feet and added the peninsula counter.

    here was before.

I bought this place almost 30 years ago, it almost looks the same as when I moved in -- except 30 years older...
Kitchen counters are white Formica with the gold speckles.

The powdercoater talks in mills, he said the paint was 2 mills thick, I said how much is that in inches? He said 2 thousandths. He's the only one I've met who talks that way.

The mil and the thousandth are the same thing, mil is commonly used when referring to paints, plating, coatings, plastics and gloves.

    We wrench twisters use thousandths.

1 mil is easier to write and say than 0.001 .

A millimeter is .03937 of an inch.
So where does it come from?
I hear many people use the term.
Is mill just that much easier to say than a thousandth?
    :annoyed:

And tenths means were talking in tens of thousandths.
    5 tenths = .0005
    Easy peasy

    Edit oops

Mil has its origins from metric prefix “milli”, which is Latin for “one thousandths”.

it's a corruption of the French "Mille", meaning "one thousand", as in 1 milimeter = 1 thousandth of a meter".
