    I personally do the same with my EDC. There is always extra mags when it comes to being prepared. @ashesofempires I don't think its crazy to keep extra ammo in your vehicle, now if you have a whole arsenal hidden in your vehicle that's a different story. To me weapons are just another set of tools to use and a skill to learn, Will I ever use this tool and rely on the skill I built up? probably never.

    Here's the real question "will you regret not having the tools or the skills to use said tool if you find yourself in a situation that calls for it?". I've always answered yes so I train, get familiar with my tools and learn to operate every single one safely and effectively.

    I train a lot too. Lots of failsafes and two in the T. Some professional training and lots of practice using violence of action. I often drill myself if I get up to pee in the middle of the night. Weak hand, maintaining cover, it needs to be second nature. When my daughter was little, she asked me if I was scared after checking out a noise for her. I told her, “No, if someone else were here, they ought to be afraid I’m here”.

    I'm guessing you live in, or near, a city?

    Every day I'm in an area where, if something happened, I could easily sit there for 24 hours before seeing another soul and have no cell service. That's just near my house.

    If it's 98 degrees or -40 degrees, which it very well could be where I live, I want to be able to get rolling again. Or at least be comfortable staying in place.

    Yep both towns nearby just a few miles away. Biggest city 25 miles away. Been close to a 100 F degrees this summer a few times. Gets down to about -10F in the winter. Got 99% cell coverage, so getting stuck in the middle of nowhere is pretty remote. Furthest i had to walk one winter night after getting stuck in the woods was 3 miles or so....no biggie.

    I’ve been following this thread as it’s been very entertaining.

    I do have a question any recommendations on a tool roll that has most of the things needed for the taco? I assume metric socket wrench set, screwdrivers, maybe set of Allen key, not sure what else?

    also what’s best portable tire repair? Would fix a flat get me home on a 285/75/16 tire?

    On top of what you've said I'd add vise grips and needle nose pliers. You'd be pretty much covered for most easy repairs with those things. I don't carry much more than that for tools.

    I don't know about fix-a-flat but I have an ARB repair kit. Came in handy last winter when I picked up three nails at once in the 4Runner and had to plug three tires. Still running those plugs with no issues. Plugs can be a contentious issue on vehicle forums though.
