Have you been in a fox vehicle? It's far superior in many ways.

I mean it’s just the progressive vs digressive debate. Pick your poison. One’s not necessarily better than the other, they’re just designed for different purposes.

desert racing? Fox/kings… overlanding slow trails in a heavy vehicle prone to tipping? Bilstein/Icon…

I thought the same. My brother runs icon. My Fox setup felt just as controlled and planted rock crawling. He was even surprised. OME/Bilstein vs Icon/Fox/King are night and day.

Yea IDK how much of a difference you’ll feel super slow rock crawling, maybe just on big drop offs. Spring rate also plays a big role too so you have to factor that in.

I have the fox 2.0s. I wouldn't get them if I hadn't got them for half off. What irritates me the most about the 2.0 is while they look adjustable, the only way to adjust them if to remove them and compress the spring. At that point, you might as well have the bils and save your money with a better ride.

Thank you for your feedback! I already purchased the 6112/5160 and on a money I saved I got the JBA STD control arms.

Knowing of others with icons, kings, fox, etc in 2.5" that are adjustable after a year or so they oxidize and almost impossible to adjust. Even after taking the coil out. Even seen them get damaged trying to adjust. The 2.0s are aluminum and don't rust. Also pulling a coilover takes about 30 min.

probably 1.5 or so tops. Fits nicely with the 265/70/17. My tires are about due for a change here in the next couple months. I’m debating what to do. Either same size or go up to 4-5 notch on the 6112s and get 275s

Do you work for Fox? That was the same nonsense they said. Your timing assumption is flawed. Sure, you can take it out in 30 minutes, but what you are missing is the two hours or so that goes along with a removal such as jacking it up, removing the tire, etc. Then once you have it all apart you have to compress the spring and guess how much to adjust. Add to the fact that you have to do that to both sides. Not real great logic when you buy a product for adjustability. Totally defeats the ability to fine tune. These are not something that you adjust on a regular basis. Pretty much something you set and you are done. The point is that you are wasting money buying something adjustable when it really isn't adjustable. It makes more sense to buy the bils.

You proved my point. They need adjusted once and you don't guess. You measure and adjust accordingly. 1/4" change gives you 1/2" lift. So not like you will be doing it over and over like you do with adjustable that use a spanner wrench which can be a major PITA. They are also rebuildable and overall ride quality is better. For under $1k the 2.0 fox are a hell of a deal.

The problem is two fold. 1. The difference between a rub and not a rub is slight. The beauty of an adjustable coilover is being able to fine tune it and you totally lose that by having to remove it. 2. The bigger problem is that nowhere on the fox site did it say that you couldn't adjust these until I called them when I found out on my own. Their shitty response was pretty much like your statement about being aluminum and the ease of removal in addition to a line about "oh yeah, we should put that on our website because we get a lot of calls". I don't know if that has changed and that is where you found the info, but when it is 11pm and you are wrapping up for the night thinking about driving it to work the next day and just needing to make a few adjustments, the last thing you want to do is to have to pull it all apart again.

I’m getting 265 70 17 on some SCS Ray 10’s next week no lift yet am curious how they would look with lift. I wanted 2 inches but maybe 1.5 would be better. Decisions, Thanks for posting

Completely new to doing anything suspension related, looking to bounce some ideas off you fine folks.

I'm looking at getting the Bilstein 6112/5160 just for light off roading and to level out. If I can get any lift it's just a bonus.

Looking at getting the full replacement leaf pack from Icon because I do use my truck for trailer and transporting stuff.

With a lift as minimal as 1.5 to 3", should I be looking at getting a differential drop kit? How about Upper control arms since one of my uniballs has started clicking when stopping or going over a bump?

Hers is the 6112’s settings I went with 6/5 600lb springs I have full skids / sliders on the way. I’m a little under 2” which is fine IMO. RIDE is great. I have about 1.5” of rake which I like for loading and using like a truck. I have Deaver 1.5”- 2” aal with overload in. I will be getting Icon RXT leaf pack in the future. Hope this helps. Also UCA’s will help with a lot. IMO I would get them

6112/5160 are great overall shocks on and off road. Stick to under a 2 inch front lift and you won’t “strictly need” upper control arms. 6112’s at the highest setting are a 2 inch front lift so you should be good.

In a stock vehicle, the rear is 1/2-1 inch higher than the front so that you don’t sag when you fill the bed of the truck with stuff; this is commonly referred to as “rake.” You’ll need to raise the rear an equal amount as the front to keep the factory rake. Either with add a leafs, new leaf pack, or blocks. Icon add a leaf or their RXT pack are good options.

if you find yourself sagging when towing heavy loads consider a product called “Sumo springs” which add extra support only during heavy loads. They replace the factory bump stop. Another option is to get a leaf pack designed to carry heavy loads (not just raise the rear), but they give a harsh ride when the bed is empty.

A 2 inch lift may look odd with stock wheels/tires. A 2 inch lift pairs well with 275/70R17 wheels/tires (32 inches). If you go wider/bigger than that then you’ll need something called a “cab mount chop” and will probably need to regear your truck so I don’t recommend it unless you’re going all out. If you have 16 inch wheels then your option is 265/75/16 (31.5 inches). Stock tires are 30.5 inches.

lastly… you can just lift the front 1/2 an inch with the 6112’s and not worry about touching the rear or new wheels/tires. You’ll be closer to a level front/back and lose your “rake,” and might sag when you have a heavy load (unless you add sumo springs).
