I have been emailing back and worth with my local dealer about a “in stock” TRD Sport DC.

Finally caved in and went into the dealer to discuss pricing. $4k markup and the truck is still in route.

Told them most I would pay would be sticker and I’d do the deal right there and then with a check, full price.

Still wouldn’t budge and I would be the first they would call if it’s not sold by the 16th lol.

Good thing I want a truck vs need one right now. I can wait.

Bought my 21 SR5 for about $34k in April. There were only two left on the lot.

After a TRD Pro wheel/tire upgrade and a faux TRD Pro grill, KBB gives me a resell value around $42k. Market is out of control right now.

I had been watching pricing on used trucks and it was crazy so I decided to sell my 2018 Tundra OR with 13k on it. I just listed it for 55k (Canada) which is $6500 more than I paid 3.5 years ago lol. 2 weeks ago I ordered a 2021 Tacoma sport premium mt and paid $46795.42 which is $943 below list. I lucked out that my dealer isn't marking them up more than list. I'm pretty sure the only reason I didn't have to pay list was that I added TRD exhaust, TRD suspension and power tailgate lock. They make huge markup on the after market stuff. I also refused to pay the doc fee of $699 so I really paid $1642 below list. I had also told him if I had to pay retail I'd have a stroke lol
I really had been looking for a pro but all I could find was 20's for 7k to 10k above what 21's were. My truck will be here in Oct so I'm looking forward to it !

How'd you just "refuse" to pay the doc fee?

When I put an offer in I usually say $???? total, taxes everything in. If they tack the doc fee on top I tell them again the same thing. This last time I forgot to put taxes in. I told them $51500.00 including my add ons. When he wrote up the offer the $699 was there. Again I said $51500 total is what I'll pay lol. Most dealers have to pay each dept so he rewrote it and had the $699 in but it still came to $51500.00. You have to stick to your price and ignore when they say their not making any money lol. . Some dealers will charge wheel and tire ins or key ins and say they don't charge doc fees but that's where they try to hide it because they'll mark it up. In the past I've walked away when they said wheel ins or doc fee is mandatory. With the truck shortage I would have paid more but didn't have to in the end. Hope that helps

My coworker just got a cement grey DCSB off-road for $46,000. She had to wait on it for a month.

Decide what you want to pay before you go looking and just put your foot down ! Don't be afraid to walk away. Its tougher right now because of the chip shortage but you can still get a good deal.

Before I bought my 2018 Tundra I had a 2011 Tacoma. When I looked at it, I gave the salesman a stupid low price, so low he wouldn't even write it up so I left. It did have higher mileage but it's a Toyota! 4 hours later he called me as I was on a test drive at another dealership. He begged me to go up in price, he said I wasn't being fair lol. I did go up $500 but still paid wholesale price. 4 years later I sold it for $500 less than I paid ! Don't feel sorry for salesman, their doing everything to make you feel like you're taking them for a ride when it's the opposite. Even if they don't make much on a sale they still get a kick back from Toyota for every vehicle they sell.

If it was me I wouldn't buy extended warranty. You have 3 years bumper to bumper plus 5 on the power train. Besides that, it's a Toyota! I also wouldn't buy wheel and key insurance but that's me. Maybe if you do off roading but double check what the warranty covers. It may not cover if you're off roading. They would have to prove that I guess. Check what deductibles are or if there are any. I've owned a 2008 4runner, 2011 Tacoma, 2018 Tundra and had 1 repair in 11 years. That was a heater resistor in my Tacoma. I replaced it myself. In the end it's only you that needs to be happy and comfortable with what you pay.
