Thats on the list already also! get it all cleaned at once. I don't want to have to go back and do it again so I was planning on going all in on that.

Replaced the plastic coolant bypass pipe with metal on my 2012 4 cyl.. also new water pump and tstat because "I was already in there".
Water pump looked brand new inside when removed at 190,000 miles.

Might try some MEK from Home Depot. I have to do this soon too, not looking forward to it.

Anyone found an aftermarket source for these clear gravel shields? The OEM ones are kinda spendy

Is the universal fit one or the one made for the Tacoma. Was checking out their site and don’t know which one to go with

If you wheel hard and/or have more offset wheels to clear shock relocates etc, then I suspect hammering the firewall won’t be enough….

This not my truck⬇️, but it is what I plan to do to fit 35s on mine. Since I have -38mm offset wheels to help clear my rear shock relocates. I got poke. Which means more aggressive action will be needed for the larger turning radius of 35s for me.

Why not do something like 285/75/17 instead? Same diameter as a 305 /70/17 but an inch narrower, which would help a ton

I have the universal fit one (been on for 6 years now). That powertrays option is pretty slick though, especially since I’ll be tackling a powertrays install this fall. I have my universal fit model mounted right in the way…

Pic from November 2015, when the truck was 6 months old. Damn that engine bay was clean!

A guy stopped by today, to pick up a set of stock 2008 Off Road wheels and tires, with a 2006 4.0 that has 260k miles. It is his daily driver and he bought it new. He said he has never needed to replace his water pump. Good news for my son with 144k miles on his 2012 and me with 83k miles on my 2008. You may have been premature replacing yours but I would prob do the same thing in your shoes. Another plus about 2nd gen trucks.

Thanks for the compliment. Those are 17" x 9" XD128 Machete. The tires are BFG K02 275/70R17. Didn't need to do any trimming inside the wheel well. They roll just fine.

Get the universal one. The one for the tacoma is made for the power tray mounting and the hoses are to short if you dont have a power tray. I had to go get 3 ft of hose to make mine work. As far as I know the universal should have more then enough hose to put it almost anywhere.

Not a bad idea. I'd have to get new rims but thats never a bad thing.

I soldered in the LEDs myself a few years back. I's not bad pulling it apart. I'm the same way I hated the orange look.

A couple of quick questions........Brilliant truck BTW.
Which top hat for your snorkel is that? Is that the topspin? Would you happen to have a link? Do you know if it has a 3.5" inner diameter?

knob upgrade :p didn't realize such an easy and cheap mod could be so satisfying :D
Not as fancy as the AJT versions but getting things shipped to Canada from the USA sucks. knobs1.jpg
