In 2021 nothing shocks me anymore. People are offended that there's only two types of bathrooms, and now their bitch fest has caused normal people to cave into their hurt feelings. How much worse can it get? I don't even pay attention to people I don't know, makes going through life alot easier.

I got hammered at Puck one time, obviously on my day off; One of the bouncers said that if more drunks were like me, he wouldn't have a job...

Did you start booting drunks out of the bar? Getting paid to womp on drunks seems like it'd be fun for a while.

    I wasn't a bouncer; I was a barback...

One time on Thanksgiving Eve, the head bouncer put in front of a restricted area to keep people from going up there looking for the bathroom, basically making me a "static bouncer". I'm a big guy who can block a doorway and I was wearing the same distinctive black "Puck" shirt as most of the other employees (including the bouncers), and it actually worked out pretty well; People got the message that they weren't supposed to go up there based on the fact that I was standing there, and the most I had to do was direct customers to the bathroom!

And to the layperson, a barback is the person who does all the shit the bartenders are too busy to do, or don't feel like doing; I made $10 an hour and got 10% of the bartenders' tips!

Since my daily driver is a nimble little pickup truck, I was the one who went on ice runs when our ice maker couldn't keep up with customer demand; I also did everything from walking the general manager's dog on busy nights (she lived within walking distance of the bar), to diagnosing problems with the central A/C, to picking up the booze at the state store (another job I got because I had a nimble pickup with a decent sized bed)! I miss that job... :(

FYI, I didn't get fired; I'm still good friends with my old boss and the only reason I left is because Puck closed indefinitely in January 2019 for major renovations. COVID hit just over a year later when the building was still undergoing renovations...

I worked at Puck for more than 4 years but I knew I could be a barback forever if I wanted to buy a house; I took a job detailing cars at a local dealership to explore other potential careers. I found out from my boss at Puck, not long after I got the job at the dealership (September 2018), that Puck would be closing indefinitely the following January. Not even three months into my career at the detail shop, I started having second thoughts, but Puck was closing and I didn't feel like looking for another job; I was stuck. I just toughed it out at the detail shop, staying there for a staggering 5 months after Puck closed before I finally got burnt out and put in my two weeks...

Happy I found ya’ll, I was beginning to think I wasn’t going to fit in here after reading “what did you do to your gen3 today” for about 3 weeks nightly.. I am most definitely not a west coast person, and more old skool… 88 Tacoma, first year of the V6 , and yes, I blew head gaskets, 2002 Tacoma that I just sold, and now this 2019 with 12k on the odo.. also a avid Jeep CJ-5 owner since the early 80’s.. My wheeling days are behind me now, and honestly, I feel with all the buttons and menus in my truck, if I don’t use them often enough, I’m going to have to have the Manual handy. It’s technology overload compared to my 02. I’m still trying to find a shortcut to the acronym meanings..
It’s not that bad, but I do have questions!

Happy I found ya’ll, I was getting worried!

Took the no-service route home from work. Nice peaceful drive where I may or may not have had the truck sideways a couple of times.

DCNR just put down fresh stone.
