Got the rear end cleaned up and rebuilt. Took a week and half off of work to push and get the yota done.

Well got a bunch done. Last 10% takes for ever. Im.getting it ready for the alignment shop tomorrow. Got the new driveline in. I finally regeared and installed the locker in the front axle. Dana axles piss me off but theyre great so its a love hate relationship. This truck is going to be one bad bitch.

I realized after building the cab bar, i hate my shock hoops in the rear. They're in the way and i dont like the bend. For the past few months i have been debating whether a internal or exo cage. Ive decided to go exo cage. To make a cage strong, the more tie in points to the frame the stronger itll be and the higher chance of survival in the case of a rollover. So the hoops must go due to their lack of stability and strength.
Im doing a flatbed but im not doing a truggy. I hate how they look for one and two i need the ergonomics of a flatbed. This will be a jeep killer on the trails but i chase coyotes, shoot elk, and carry duck dogs so i need the bed space. At this time i have to leave them just to get the damn truck off my lift. But hopefully in a month or so ill be cutting them off and redoing it.

Similar discussion we were having on my thread LOL.

At least you have a lot of space back there to tie an exo cage to the frame points any way you want.

Not sure how tall you are, but I am so glad I went the exo cage route for my reg cab. Well, in my case I drive the truck on the street often, so i didn't want to have that "race car" tight feel all the time. But if your truck will be a trail only thing, then I guess an internal cage could work well too.

Yeah, seeing what you did got my ass off the couch and finish my rig. My wife got the old wuhan wheezer so im quarantined for two weeks.

I read the post on your page from the @allenfab and i think its a person own opinion. With beds ur limited unless you want a lot of sheetmetal work to do and paint and such. I think your idea for a flatbed is spot on. You dont have to build a truggy. It may not be as strong as one but itll be safe enough.

Im only 69 inches so an internal cage wouldnt be the worst, but head trauma due to blunt impact would not be part of my plan. Ive built plenty of internal cages, but i was wearing a helmet and a harness in them.
In the great state of idaho it is illegal to use harnesses as a restraint, and i wouldnt trust my factory belt to keep my head away from the bar. Plus i dont think my wife would want to go hunting and have to wear a helmet lol.

    Use the quarantine to wrench!

I see both sides of the argument, but @allenfab kind of persuaded me haha. Of course, I am always tinkering and thinking about things.

All the points you mentioned about internal cages are so true! Here in AZ the use of harnesses as restrain is not an issue. But yea, an internal cage is not very appealing for a multitude of reasons. Plus I know for a fact my wife would hate it LOL.

Yeah thats what i have been doing. I wanted to get the back of the truck somewhat welded up to get the fuel tank, battery, air tank, and compressor mounted. I dont have much left to do heres the list

Build and route front brake lines
    Finish running fuel lines
    Run locker air lines
    Drill rotors
    Fix tie rod
    Mount fuel regulator

Tied the hoop into the chassis

    Good tube work!

Big project you got going there. And of course I am biased towards reg cabs. That rig is bad ass!

And I just noticed you are using trailing arms. Missed that in earlier pics. Trailing arms are beef!!

Thanks, yeah way too much way too soon. It was a giant fucken snowball that turned into a avalanche/mudslide/ tsunami/ a fucken apocalypse. Suppose to be a dana 44 in the front only in the shop for no more then a month. 8 months later in this shittery this is what i have.

Long story short this had turned into a giant shit show. The only stock thing left i think is the steering wheel lol.

Yeah im partial to regular cabs as well. For hunting and wheeling theyre the best.

The trailing arms are from ruff stuff and they're harder then the back of my head. Worth every penny.
