HA! With the number of NY plates around town I feel overwhelmed by city slickers.

I moved from North Bridgton to Sweden (6.25 miles) and it went from people who summer in Maine to people who vacation. It's very odd. People walking around, driving Wrangler rentals with the tops off, not having a clue if a zone is a 25 or 55, etc.

Looking for recommendations on a north Maine woods sporting camp. Where to go, or not to go. Good scenery on water is a plus.

    Nugent's any good?

    Thanks guys!

When do you want to go? What are your plans once your there? I can only make a couple of recommendations based on my experiences, but don't know why you want to stay in a camp.

I'm probably dreaming but just tomorrow night. I am looking for future reference as well. Something accessible by truck if possible. Not looking to hunt or fish this trip but will on future ones. I'm pretty much looking for a quick last minute get away.

You could try Macannamac Camps on Haymock Lake. Believe their website is macannamac.com.

I have stayed at Macannamac camps on Spider Lake and Cliff Lake. They are older camps, but well maintained. You drive to the Haymock location to register/pay. Then, it's about another 1/2 hour drive to either Cliff or Spider. I guess I'm a little late with my reply, but hope you found something.

Hey guys/gals, I'm visiting from the Florida forums and hitting the local tourist must-do's

Do you have any recommendations as far as local "off-road" trails go? I'm tempted to poke into the northern logging roads but being on stock suspension and tires, the North Maine horror stories have me on edge. I'd appreciate any pointers or advice you have.

    Don’t go alone.
Being unfamiliar with the area makes it really sketchy..
I’m sure some of the dirt boys will chime in..
    Welcome to Maine.

Thank you! I have a copilot and the Taco has enough food, water, and gear to last a week should worse come to worse. Really wanted an inReach for the trip but Garmin has been backordered for a month now.

make sure you have a good spare, the rocks up there on the roads have taken many tires.

Here's a map of the North Maine Woods. Lots of "main" roads you can travel easily. See if you can get to Clayton Lake!
