Just ordered a 17 Design folding AR lower. I plan to put this on a 17 Design upper with a Cry Havoc quick release. This will be my SBR lower :D

I know this is an AR10, but same design.

I would definitely read as many reviews on the 17 Design lower as possible. Since it is going to be an SBR, you want to make sure nothing breaks. Personally, I have a Law Tactical device on my SBR, I prefer that to the built-in hinge. For a normal AR or an AR pistol, I would have no problem going with the 17 Design lower. But that tax stamp is expensive in time and money.;)

Good point. If I feel it may be an issue, I can always just use one of my spare lowers to SBR. I have bought 2 regular Aero Precision and 2 17 Designs in the last week  I will then just throw a pistol brace on the folder :D

Really wish I had been smart enough to use a Cry Havoc QR for swapping between .300 BLK and 5.56 barrel on a single upper instead of two dedicated uppers.

I'm not so much interested in the quick change for caliber swap. Just the fact it'll pack down small :D I only want this for the 300BLK SBR. Just look at it this way.......if you have multiple uppers.....you've got spare parts

I got to test fit my Resonator K on the Sig yesterday when we were a little slow, I’m thinking the Sig will also get a REIN and sling, possibly a bipod as well.

I’m also considering putting the new Holosun AEMS on this SBR when we get our shipment in.

your work bench looks like mine but not as messy as mine! I have shit all over. I'm putting more WarComp's on more rifles to move my suppressor around. I'm currently looking to see how far I can hit steel with a 20" upper and IMI 77gr. It's not a good time to be firing those rounds but I want to stretch that rifle out anyways.

I hope you get a good 17 D&M lower. I just had to log in 35 of their lowers on Friday and most of them had pretty bad finish blems.

As long as it functions, I can look past the finish. I only paid $69 each for these and have no plans on how I wanted to build them. I really just bought b/c of the price

I've got 2 Aeros sitting in front of them. I do hope the folder is in good to go though. I wanted to build it next. I bought a Strike Industry short pistol buffer, RA 140 drop-in trigger, Aero LPK, and Primary Weapons ratchet castle nut for it.

One of my coworkers will straighten the bench once a week or every other week but it always turns into a mess.
My shop at home is way messier, but I’d rather do the work at work because some of the customers like to see our personal toys.
Also I like to advise customers on what I have experience with and it’s easier to hand them a rifle and let them finger it than to show pictures and try to explain how everything works.

I don’t have an upper longer than 16” I kinda want to try a 20” build though, but up next is a 13.7” as a semi-DMR/Recce rifle style. Unfortunately currently I don’t have a place to shoot further than 300 and I rarely shoot past 100 anyway so my short guns do allright for that.

What caught my eye is the peg board. One reason I bought this house is there is a work shop in the house downstairs. concrete floor. benches and peg board all over. Nice bench vice already there. Tons of cabinets and drawers. I just had to add a beer fridge and TV and all the girls can stay the fuck upstairs!

When I build my retirement house the shop will have benches and pegboard, they’re both extremely useful.

Im slightly surprised that we have this much stuff at work because we don’t do gunsmithing, the extent we do is mounting optics or function testing guns because we have a lifetime warranty on firearms purchased from us.

It sounds like your house has a nice setup!

some of the original 1977 stuff in the house needs to be updated. But here is the shop when I bought the house and before I made a mess of it LOL

    Questions for y'all:
I just got my Ballistic advantage stripped lower. It's my understanding its made by aero. It's not the enhanced with the built in trigger guard but it does say it it's threaded for a set screw to hold the rear detent spring down. The AERO lpk i'm looking to order is the standard kit with no FCG or grip. It doesn't come with the set screw though. Is there another kit that is the same kit but has the set screw included? I can also order the aero m4e1 field repair kit that will come with 2 set screws and all the replacement parts I could lose for just $12 or I could just run the detent spring held down by the backing plate without the screw right?

From looking at the picture and description on their website the Aero LPK minus FCG appears to come with that set screw.

    https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/ar15-lpk-minus

"4-40 Set Screw (for threaded takedown pin detent hole)"

If it doesn't PM me. I have one or two I'll send you for free.

Yes. I'm doing this on mine.

Thanks! The ar15safespace aero lpk has the same sku : APRH100385C as the lpk on the aero site that shows the screw and list it in the parts. Hopefully the site just ar15safespace site just isn't updated. I just order the kit and hope it comes with one. If not I may be reaching out to you for one. I appreciate the help! I've built many lowers but never had the fancy screw before haha.

I tried to get the set screw in 3 or 4 times before deciding it wasn't worth it and wound up just going the traditional route. I've seen videos of people trimming the spring to make up for the length of the set screw and make installation easier but I prefer not to trim springs.

Never thought about that being an issue. I watched a youtube vid from ballistic advantage of them installing one and they didn't even mention the set screw or the fact the lower was threaded for one haha.

I bought a tap and set screws and did this on my first PSA lower, and had left over screws to use on my Aero lower later on. I trimmed 3-4 coils off the spring each time. Wasn't too hard of a time.
