TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Supercharger Coolant swirl tank thing? It's notorious for leaking. Just wondering if it is even weeping, maybe your warranty would cover it.

 

…also the intercooler hoses leak get a fresh set if leaking.

What’s that look like? Is it close to the reservoir?

Good idea, I’ve already replaced those and the leaky clamps though.

 

I believe he's talking about the intercooler reservoir, outlined in red...


Note that mine is a @mightytacoman reservoir, but it's installed in the stock location.

All of my wife's previous ones were CPOs we ditched when the warranties ended. This 2018 is one of the last they made with a 6MT. Trixie (my better half) specced it out in the color and with the interior options she wanted. I added every available performance goodie (i.e., M-Sport Pkg, Adaptive M Suspension, Track Handling Pkg, M Sport Brakes, Variable Sport Steering, Sport Seats, and M Performance Power & Sound Pkg). Got it for almost $9K off MSRP and the local service guys like to remind us how "rare" it is (as configured) every time we take it in. Will probably bite the bullet and keep it until the wheels fall off or it bankrupts us.

The B58 seems pretty good so far in my market area. We are starting to see some valve covers go bad. It causes smoke and whistle or hooting noise. The crank case vent valve is built into the vale cover. Water pumps leak some times too.
If your in may area and need to take it to the dealer ask for me to work on it. Lol!

 

Ahhh I see. I was looking at my reservoir and following the hoses thinking, is there a swirly thing I’m not seeing in here somewhere?? Anyway no leaks on mine so looks like that warranty was a $2k waste by the precious owner.

 

I am in the process of searching and doing a shit ton of reading because the HPTuner showed up yesterday. If anyone has gone from a bully dog tuner to hp tuner, how'd it go, what sucked what didn't?
