How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

I'm located in the Bay Area, CA but went through a dealership in Idaho since they were the only ones offering to take my 2021 "order" in July. So...I'll have a fun 900 mile break-in road trip.

From earlier posts on this topic I've seen a median delivery time (after date of build) of 4 weeks and on the high end, upwards of 6 weeks. That was back then so who knows what the status of dealership transportation is right now.

 

Well, I’m hoping for the four week, that puts my truck at oct 6th… wife wanted to do a small road trip for our anniversary (10/19) and it would be nice to have the new truck.

 

My truck is supposedly being built tomorrow, was ordered in July. Can’t wait to see the temp VIN not work. My salesman is telling me 1-2 weeks for delivery. See what happens.

My truck was built on the 23 of august still not shipped yet.Hopefully soon.Sales man said supposed to be here between the 27 of sep and oct 4. We both shouldnt have too long of a time to wait.

 

I’m in Portland, OR, and just received this:

Seems like every dealer has a different idea of shipping time

 

I wonder if the average shipping time varies between Texas and Mexico. I know the Mexico trucks get on boats but how do the Texas trucks get to their dealerships? Train? Semi-truck?

 

Got another update from dealer today, ETA to dealership is 09/28-10/4 (~3 weeks after build date) .

 

It was my understanding is that all Tacoma's come by train regardless where whey are built. Boat is for incoming from Japan

 

And as to dispel continued belief about a rhyme or reason, my truck is a pro, coming from Mexico.

 

They have 2 mexico plants I believe.

Mine came from Baja Mx

 

That makes sense - mine came from the other.

 

Every dealer will have a different window.

There's a thousand things that affect how long a truck will take to any one dealer. It's mostly out of their hands. Shipping is a mess right now.

 

Just got word mine is loaded on the transport truck from the port. It has a 150 mile drive to the dealer. He said it will be here on Mon.......as in 4.5 days from now

 

@danadavenport they are anticipating a lot of traffic, LOL.

My build was 8-19 and supposed to arrive about Sept 23. Placed my deposit on May 12. So close now. '21 Army Green DCSB OR MT and I cannot wait!

 

Went to a dealer on 8/17 to place my deposit on a 21 Tacoma ACOR, Army Green, Automatic, Technology Package with Options(led headlights)
While putting my deposit down, dealer said they did not receive their July 31 allocation of Tacomas.
Pinged salesman on 9/2 asking for a build date: "No news to report of yet. We were just given our most recent allocation and there weren't any Tacoma's in it. I should hopefully have an answer for you in our next allocation in a couple weeks." Red flags starting to go up in my mind. No updates since then. Will likely ping this week.
Interestingly enough, when putting the deposit down the dealer said they would trade with SoCal dealers to get my specific model. Sales rep told me he is "not a huge tacoma guy" Seemed like a carolla driving simp.

I made it clear I wanted a 21, thinking I would get it faster. The dealer gave me a pricing sheet(not exactly a quote, but lists Price, discount($400) rebate, accessories, admin fee, est taxes.) The sales rep made it clear if it was going to be a 22 that discount may not be applied. I had to ping them 3 days after stopping in, asking when they would run my card. My concern is that the sales rep is simply waiting to hunt for an allocation until after all 21's are gone.

Should I be concerned? Is this bullshit? Am I reading too much into this? What would you do? Buying from a decent size dealer in Denver, I contacted 30+ dealers requesting quotes, and this was the best deal.

 

I'm in a similar position. I put my deposit down for a '21 in late August. Dealer said they didn't receive ANY allocations August 1 or 15. I've been asking whether or not mine made it onto their Sept 1 request. He said they received a bunch of allocations (didn't fill all deposits though, only like 200 out of 350) but it takes awhile to sift through them... Haven't heard back from him in 2 days
