I would suggest calling them up but there could be a permitting issue thing, I thought I remember anyone who "renovates a wood burning fireplace" has to replace with gas.

This has more info- Wood Fireplace is a State rule (see below for exceptions) for 7 "metro Denver Counties"

if you aren't pulling a permit I'd say don't ask don't tell but you fucked up by posting it online :luvya:

devil's advocate having a gas fireplace on a thermostat is pretty dope if you use the room often. Wood is nice for the ambiance but not the safest and you have to pay more attention to keep your house from burning down

I'm pretty sure he can upgrade his existing fireplace with no permit. It's all about the flue/chimney existence.
If you have the room, go wood stove. Gives all the heats from all the surfaces.

Be careful with this. There's at least 6 different types of vent pipes, and not all are appropriate for each fuel, application or location inside the house.

Here's a decent primer on the subject.

Hey Brian @thefatkid or anyone who knows more about 2nd (not as good as 1st) gens-

My truck has hit 230+ degrees twice now while wheeling. The last time required running the heater and even then it wouldn't get below 220 until I started going downhill. Also saw in the 220 range just pulling a big hill on the highway.

What should I dive into first?

4L with a slushbox. 138k miles.. Stock gears, little 32s, but a decent amount of extra weight.. I did add a small secondary Trans cooler in line with the factory one. It does feel terribly undergeared and will get regeared at some point here.

    Aux trans cooler. BIGGER.

Bigger radiator. There is a CSF and other brand option.

If that still isn't providing enough cooling, you're going to need/want an electric fan.

Even though you don't have a supercharger, come join us in that thread for the eFan and radiator talk.

Cheers for all the input, after tearing down the hearth, I found a capped gas line so things got more interesting now. The gas line is about 4 feet from the wall so I'm thinking there once was an old school fireplace in the center of the room? Either way, the point of this project was to reduce the space of the fireplace not enlarge it. I'm going to have an inspector come out for the gas line and see what our options are with that. Messing with the city/county and as @Wulf mentioned, the safety of a wood burning just doesn't sound like a good time to me.

Thanks for educating me! Homeownership is gonna be a fucking adventure.

I believe people say "it's an investment". I think they mean an investment of all of their personal time.

and mental health. Thankfully the basement came finished. Just needs some paint. Upstairs just needs paint and floors and we'll be set for the time being.

I recommend draining your water heater now. No telling the last time it was done… the one here hasn’t been done in 3+ years and much sludge came out. Half the faucets run slow.
