Can't find any instructions on replacing this. Can I "simply" jack up the differential until the part clears the crossmember?

The FSM removal section is not that helpful in regards to this..

One thing I did discover after a quick search, is that the rear mount is held in with a 10 or 12mm allen bolt, so make sure you have those on hand before attempting.

Maybe try searching through some of the 4wd conversion threads, paying attention to how to install the new diff, and see what issues they have had.

Edit: I'm also not sure how mission-critical that bushing is in the scheme of things...

It is the last step on removing the diff, so I think you'll need to follow all of the steps to lower it enough to replace it.

mmm guys who pull the front diffs for 4wd conversions all seem to just remove the cv axles, and leave the stub shaft (TUBE in the FSM) in place. So being that she just needs to clear the rear mount, I'm not sure she'd have to remove the tube.

I'd wait for someone to chime in who has had to either install or remove the front diff to advise.

Would I be looking to lower the differential? Wouldn't I actually need to raise it enough the clear frame crossmember it inserts into.

    I'm thinkin' that maybe it's this -

Plus probably best to disconnect the driveshaft at the front dif.

I just installed my front differential.

There isn't a whole lot of clearance above it but it might be possible to rotate the rear upwards enough to get to the two bolts that hold the mount to the diff. I would loosen the front diff bolts but not take them out since the whole assembly will be hanging from the front axles.

It only needs to move up enough to loosen those two bolts and rotate out of the way.

I thought I had done everything from front to back. The front diff bushings were the final parts to complete the mounting & suspension rehab. When I saw this mount a couple of days ago I was dismayed? surprised? bummed? & within a few minutes, mission driven to take on the final, final part to the mounting & suspension rehab....

So I'd be rotating the diff out of the way as opposed to raising it enough to clear the mount stud. Should I disconnect the drive shaft?

It depends if you have enough movement at the u joint driveshaft flange to get enough clearance .

I would need to be under the truck to be sure.

Sounds like it'd be smarter to unbolt it since I wouldn't be a good judge of whether it had enough movement.

Thank you all.... I just ordered the part yesterday, so it'll be at least a few days if anyone thinks of anything else....

The mount finally came in. Just double checking the suggestions for “how to”.
    1. Mount ready to take out
    2. Loosen all front mount bracket bolts
    3. Removed front drive shaft from
    dif

    Soooo.... next would be -

    4. Raise the dif a pinch (looks like there’s about 1in)
    5. Rotate mount to remove left bolt
    6. If need be (looks like need will be), with dif on floor jack, slowly ease it left until I have cleared the bottom mount stud.

    Questions -

    1. the axles should be ok as is? & as is is, sway bar, steering rack & coilovers are removed.

    2. Anything in particular I should look for that would qualify as an abort or reassessment?

Ok. Ok. Re-read. The idea is I may have enough room to clear the stud. Not to necessarily move the whole dif. I mean that of course would be the ideal. Is it possible to move the dif a pinch to the left to get a little more clearance if need be?

@Kristi with a K did you happen to take any pics/video? Would be a great write-up to include in the sticky threads

New steering rack is part way in. Then reassemble the steering column/wheel. Install new coilovers. Then take apart the steering wheel to center it. Compressor or clutch needs to happen. Still have to figure out how to figure out which way to go with that. Oh, & finish painting. Bed is done.

I did not. I don't think of what I do as being anything write up worthy. I could attempt something. Send it to you to proofread because I have the gift of unintentionally confusing people. When someone does it down the road maybe they could add better pics?

Install fender, bumper bracket.... I think this is becoming a Kristi reminder list. You asked what's next. After reassembly, centering the wheel, alignment & if all went well, a roadtrip with my camera. Maybe catch some foliage this year....
