Hello to my fellow taco drivers. I am new to this forum and would like some advice for a suspension upgrade. I am in the market to upgrade my suspension while keeping the OEM height. I was thinking of hunting for a takeoff OEM Fox Pro suspension possibly from a a 3rd gen. Anyone have good tips or advice how to achieve greatness here? I currently have the OEM Bilstein and have the 4 pack OEM leafs and am not very happy with the ride feels.

How do you want the ride to feel?

Do you off-road? If so, how challenging are the trails?

    Mall crawler?

    Commuter? Road condition?

What tires are you running and what is the tire pressure?

FWIW, the OEM suspension is a reasonable set of compromises to provide a reasonable ride under many different conditions. You need to be more specific about your goals. Remember, it is a truck with a purpose of hauling and working.

Finally, details about your truck. Specifically, year, model, trim, any modifications........

What he said. All depends on what your gona use it for. If you want the pro suspension, go for it. Read the reviews on here, people seem to like them. FYI, I believe 3rd gen pro suspension will raise you 1” in front tho, so you’ll need to add height in back if you want to maintain the oem rake. Also, for the prices the Fox Pro sets are going for you can get a full new suspension front, back, & leafs also. If your installing yourself anyways. Lots of info here, good luck & welcome to TW!

Based on your model and mileage your OE may have tired shocks. Over 50k?

How will you use the truck? Pavement only, or do you want off road compliance?

We read 3rd gen OR suspension is a nice, inexpensive, simple bolt on to 2nd gens. Not sure 'Pro' is needed, an not likely as easy to obtain.

As others have stated, a lot depends on what you'll be doing with your truck. Otherwise from what I understand the Bilstein 4600 will improve the ride without lifting.

So Im kinda boring and prefer to leave the truck at factory height. I use it mainly as a commuter and occasionally beat up some gravel/dirt roads. Not about to go rock crawling or into deep mud so a lift and all that other fun stuff is not really necessary for me. I don't do much towing either. My hobby is mountain biking so I use my truck to haul bikes and my oversized dog. I am a proud owner of a 2015 manual shift, 4 door short box 4x4 sport with the beautiful 16” pro rims with bfg’s. The OEM bilsteins 4600’s are just not doing it for me. I run my tires at 40psi.

Lower them to the pressure on the door jamb sticker.

4600's and the OEM shocks are not the same animal. Search and ye will find.

My truck package came with that suspension from factory. Or am I missing something? Are the blue and yellow bislteins not the 4600?
