Anyone else have a pedal commander? Have you had issues? I had mine in for about 6 months with no issues, then one day, all these lights on the dash and it wouldn't go over 30 mph. Took to dealership, they uninstalled my pedal commander, and haven’t had an issue since. Want to reinstall it though, as it’s $300 and throttle response time is way better.

Sell the pedal commander and pay the 300 or so to get a KDMax tune. Then you won’t have to worry about issues afterwards.

Just my 2 ¢..... I too have been in this dilemma. A few people on here told me check out the pedal commander vs the sprint booster. Another few told me this new, computer stuff they call "tune" (KDMAX, OV Tune, OV Tune, etc, etc) is also the way to go. So I call a SME that installs "tunes" for a living in California, he actually convinces himself NOT to sell me a "tune" after I tell him I am computer illiterate and that a "hard-wired", plug and play may be the right fit for me.

He was right. I went with the Sprint Booster throttle acellorator and have never looked back. It has many levels of acceleration but I knew as soon as it got here via "Amazon", I set it on the highest level, "R9". and it rocks. Lighting fast response just like the good ole days when a throttle cable was connected directly to the carberator. I paid -$259 out the door (no tax, no S/H, and 20 bucks off coz of the youtube guy) Maybe the Sprint Booster could work for you.......

    Oh look, another mod....
+1 on the Sprint Booster option. I bought it because Rob Motive's review of it (and I did additional research). I paid just what you did. I love the throttle response I get. I keep it on "Sport 6". I have had it on for almost a month now and have had zero issues.

Oh, and my MPG has gone up about 1.5MPG.

KDMax is so much more than a throttle pedal it fixes ALL the inherent problems with your Taco
Go Max you’ll never look back!

This is true. Not only improved throttle response but also fixed my rough idle and the “shudder” when the trans was downshifting.

Yes OP, I had the same thing happen to me. Dealer reset codes and unhooked the Pedal Commander. I've since hooked it up again and no problems so far. Perhaps my problem was related to a dying battery and then battery replacement.

Bought my truck back in early 2020, and before I took delivery I ordered the K&N throttle tuner. It had a gain control just like all the others, but what I was reading just seemed better than the rest of the tuner boxes at the time. Have had ZERO issues in over a year with the K&N. Would like to get an OV or MAXX tune at some point, but for now I’m super happy. Just another option to add to the mix to consider…

Scaling a scaled throttle is a recipe for limp mode. KDMax and other tunes also increase throttle, and depending on the variation of the tune selected, if you put and Sprint or Pedal commander on top of the tune, it basically overdrives the throttle command, triggering faults putting the truck in limp mode.

There is so much more value in a tune as it adjusts dozens of areas of the stock tune vs. throttle scalers that only adjust throttle response. Throttle scalers also can make gear hunting worse in these trucks, especially for people that are constantly changing between throttle settings. Throttle position is a variable in shift timing, combined with the “learning” aspects of these trucks ECU/TCU, constantly changing that variable while its constantly learning leads to inconsistent results. To each their own though.

I have OV 2.0 Reg. and it is much better than stock I just find the truck likes to bounce around at times with throttle response.

So to combat that I will use ECT with Drive or S4 and S5 with or without ECT.

Idk if it's the AT learning constantly that's the cause for this?

I am just north of Indianapolis. Waited thru June and half of July and realized that there would not be a "KDMax event" in Indianapolis area in near future. Purchased Sprint Booster and partially happy. Based on KDMax tuner map in the KDMax thread, my travel time to nearest tuner is 3 hours. Round trip and tune time means I dedicate a day. I am primary care giver for wife and step mother. If I get a free day right now it isn't to spend a day in the truck to get a tune. Maybe someday. .... The NRA has hosted annual meeting in Indianapolis twice in 10 years, who knows, maybe a tuner will come here someday.
