Is that legal? "You have to finance through us or we're gonna mark up your truck!" I feel my BP rising just reading that comment.

I would've walked out after getting into an argument with the manager. To be honest, I wouldn't have gone through that dealer anyways. Not paying above MSRP

 

I didn't see Toyota Care listed? Have they stopped offering that??

 

The 2 first years of routine service free? I had that included in my purchase and didn’t even ask for it.

 

You don't have to ask for it, it comes standard with all 2021 Toyota models. I thought that guys window sticker said he was charged for it?

 

Yeah, that was my point lol… I’d never heard of it so it was an extra bonus for me.

I walked out a deal for precisely that reason. I need a vehicle. Like I'm legit without my own ride right now.

I found a new OR, and dealer was adding a $1k "market adjustment fees" on top. She told me that all dealership were doing it. I pointed out that our largest dealer in the area was not. She just said "well we're not them!" and refused to waive it.

I'll never do business with them on principle alone, but the truck did sell within the day regardless.

The search continues.

 

It tries to make it appear to be an included feature of Toyoguard for $699, when in reality since it is included with all 2021 Tacomas, it means that it was $699 just for paint sealant.

 

Good luck. My dealership put a $900 exclusive dealership ad on, which was the 3M plastic door guards and nitrogen in the tires. Literally BS.They said take it or leave it because the next guy is going to buy this truck in about 30 minutes. I was able to get them to take it off though because it wasn’t on the window sticker. Also as mentioned before in a previous post, do research through your state on document fees;The state might set a legal range so you can negotiate for the lower fee. They’re going to try to get as much out of you as they can because they haven’t been selling cars.
Don’t bring your wife either. They got us into a room, filled it with four men and they all looked at her and would not look at me to pressure her. They were messing with the wrong lady though. She stood up and said F you guys and walked out. I told them they shouldn’t have been trying to intimidate her and that they were all pieces of S for not looking at me in the eye. We didn’t buy a car from that dealership.. The salesman are pulling all of the tricks out of the book. Go at the end of the day when the salesman are tired and expect to drag it out to the next day. If you go early in the day they will play this game of make you wait.

 

Yeah I'm not sure about the Toyoguard Platinum crap. I assumed the 4 services were free as well? I got it on my Sienna back in February and other Toyotas that I've bought.

I don't think you can take it off once it's on the car though? That's the Tacoma I liked when I was at the dealership. Honestly it was the only new Tacoma they had and the guy who had a deposit on it cancelled that morning. The sales guy told me it would be gone in a day or two? Maybe he was full of it but I believe it to be true, they sell quick around here in the south.

Oh wow. I did not know that. Hey, I just learned something! Well, back in Feb/2021 (before the car market spiraled out of control), this wasn't forced on me or even offered.

Confirmed my specs and order with my Auto Broker Sep 3rd. No word since.

Broker is an old friend from elementary --> high school. Said since I know exactly what I want and am willing to wait, Exact MSRP: $40,250 before sales tax assuming I get a 2021 not a 2022 (whenever those start being produced...), said he gets 50% of his holdback and 50% goes to his firm. He's going to leave it at that and is just trying to get me to finance through the bank he gets kickback from. He told me because of shortage Toyota is charging them MSRP instead of typical Invoice, so his Holdback is already beefier but he can't go below MSRP. He knows my background in Aviation, so he knows better than to try to sell me dealership services or add-ons, it ruins the fun of building your truck yourself! haha

Truck is 2021/2022 Army Green DCLB TRD Off Road. Only optional equipment is the standard tech package, that premium package is stupid/unsafe and can Ligma. Between getting a crazy amount for my current car, and avoiding the $2,000-$5,000 dealer bloat here in CO, I should be set on cash to go right into basic new truck things. 4.88 re-gear, Tonneu Cover, Clazzio seat covers, dual battery install, Onboard Air, undercoat, Ceramic Coating, speaker upgrade/Kilmat ETC.

Now for the quick and expedient process of waiting for my truck to get here... Oh well, more time to save for mods and wait for parts to restock.
